Toronto cyclists set to defend bike lane challenge before Ontario’s top court trib.al/vyRxf2m
"Shellnutt said the video that was entered in court didn’t show anyone making any threats. Shellnutt said his legal team entered it into evidence thinking the charge would be dropped quickly. Instead, it wound its way through the justice system for a year-and-a-half before the charges were withdrawn recently." cp24.com/local/toronto/2026/…

I’ve sat in committee all day listening to people speak about Bill 212, the bill that speeds up highway construction and rips out bike lanes.
Not a single person has come to speak in support of ripping out the Yonge, Bloor, and University Ave bike lanes, and restricting municipalities from creating new bike lanes.
Not a single one.

Bradford went from being one of the loudest cycling advocates on City Council to now pushing to spend tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to rip them out.
What happened, Brad? Is being anti-bike lane part of your 2026 mayoral platform? 🤔
“If the committee goes along with the recommendations at the Dec. 3 meeting, it would mean that the Bloor-Danforth bike lanes and the University bike lanes would remain in perpetuity.”
Safer streets, healthy communities.

It's not too late for the province to change direction on this. We have gathered the necessary information - It's costly and a waste of $75M, the lanes are well used, and they save lives.
Replying to @GraphicMatt
In summary, Ford's bike lane removals will, according to a new City Hall report:
- Cost $75 million in direct costs and sunk costs.
- Make traffic much, much worse for at least nine months during construction to remove lanes
- Have minimal long-term impact on car travel times.

New: Last year, a few Toronto businessmen protested against a bike lane.
This year, Doug Ford himself promised to rip it out — and change bike lane rules province-wide.
As it turns out, Balance on Bloor has some connections.

Doug Ford wants to waste a colossal amount of money - $75M - to dig up roads and pull out bike lanes, with minimal benefit to commute times.
If the Conservatives are serious about reducing congestion they'd redirect these millions to improving service on the TTC.
Instead, Ford is playing politics with people's lives and blaming a few bike lanes for the entire region's congestion woes.
