Parking at Jones Beach is already subsidized: $10 per car, no matter how many people you've crammed inside. But for 4 Manhattanites to make the same trip, it's $11.60 for 4 subway rides, $92 for 4 round-trip LIRR tickets, and another $11.60 for the return subway. That's $115.20.
The next few days it’s going to be hotter than hell across New York — so we’re making admission and parking free at all our State Parks, pools, and beaches tomorrow and Thursday! Take your families to beat the heat, and enjoy it on us ☀️🌊

So glad to report that this week, @ps70_q has begun closing my block to car traffic during pick-up and drop-off times. I’ve documented the insanity of drivers honking at children boarding for too long, and the block is already infinitely better (and safer) off.

Hey @dr_yusefsalaam, 👇 is what the only existing protected #bikeNYC lane in your district looks like on most days. Central Harlem deserves real, safe, dedicated bike infrastructure like other neighborhoods! Please ask @NYC_DOT to improve its design. @ManhattanCB11 @mancb10 – at Central Harlem, Manhattan

3/20 @ around 8:40 am right in front of beautiful city hall. Who under @nycmayor Adams watch is putting bicyclists' lives at risk by parking this tank here? @NYCBikeLanes

How is it possible that a driver arrested four times for driving without a license can still GET a license? How is it possible that people can keep driving despite eight speeding tickets and thousands of dollars in fines? Why does no one have an answer? nyc.streetsblog.org/2024/03/…

The viral thing on German X rn is a docu about a weird, funny dressed, 18 yo who travels all over Germany to report illegaly parked cars. (4000 in 2023) He doesn't get paid for this. It's just his hobby. He calls himself "Chief complain sergeant" (yes it's one word in German)

All 70 feet of Third Avenue used to belong to cars and trucks. After years of advocacy, everyone has a safer street — dedicated bus and bike lanes + pedestrian safety upgrades make Third Avenue better for all who use it. Great piece from @sebthedev: sidewalkchorus.com/p/third-a…

There's plenty of additional context that @richmintz @Choresh2 @jehiah and others can add about this process. But the main takeaway is that @nyctaxi is an extremely effective & professional agency that does a lot to hold drivers accountable for dangerous behavior. 🙏

On the non-NYPD side: Some quick stats for TLC (taxi & Ubers, etc) submissions that were routed to TLC. As a reminder, if the vehicle's license is registered with the TLC then a 311 submission will be made by Reported, classified as a "consumer complaint" to the TLC to handle.

Unlike NYPD, the TLC is staffed by attorneys who will diligently review every single inbound 311 complaint and has the power to issue a summons to the driver/owner.

NARC REPORT My personal 2023 taxi counts cc: @Reported_NYC 1,083 crosswalk/stop line 110 spillback/forward 112 bull bar 15 illegal parking 16 ran red/stop sign 7 bike lane 4 reckless (cut in front of ped, turned across moving traffic) 2 lane violation (truck/bus) 3 illegal tint

As a quick reminder: If you select either "illegal parking" or "blocked bike lane" in the app, then TLC or not, Reported will always file a 311 "illegal parking" complaint which gets routed to NYPD. So that's where the 25k NYPD-handled submissions come from.

There are 270 more examples of Reported complaints in 2023 that led to an NYPD summons. (Though probably 40% are falsified 😬) So come and try your luck with Reported and 311, where 1 out of 100 times the NYPD will look at an illegally parked car & say they wrote a summons💯

Example 4: This Audi driver with scratched off back plates (@GershKuntzman ) was reported on New years day 2023 and NYPD followed through with a whopping $65 ticket for defaced plates. xitter.cf/Reported_NYC/status/16…
AUDI S4 driver M98V parked illegally near 690 Manhattan Ave on January 1. This is in Brooklyn Community Board 01 & #NYPD94. #VisionZero

Example 3: Here's NY driver HMU7927 parked on the sidewalk. Classic, amirite? It was submitted to 311 on May 12. NYPD claimed in the SR resolution that they issued a summons, yet no parking ticket then. This is called falsifying records. xitter.cf/Reported_NYC/status/16…
The driver HMU7927 parked illegally near 36-4 Steinway St on May 12. This is in Queens Community Board 01 #cb1queens & #NYPD114. #VisionZero

Example 2: This "Ohio" driver (with a billion NY parking tickets) parked at a stop sign in a daylighted area on May 3. xitter.cf/Reported_NYC/status/16… Uh oh... a $115 ticket. Not sure it's a bike lane but cars definitely do not belong. NYPD should have booted the car.
The driver HWZ3206 parked illegally near 221 N 14th St on May 3. This is in Brooklyn Community Board 01 & #NYPD94. #VisionZero
