I’d put my record and that of Alabama Republicans up against yours any day of the week.
Top 20 economy with $70B in investments and 100k+ new good-paying jobs.
#1 state for exporting automobiles.
Lowest per capita tax collections in the nation.
$1.5B in tax cuts since 2022 (including the grocery tax your colleagues failed to cut for 136 years).
1,500+ infrastructure projects across all 67 counties.
Most improved state for public education with the biggest gains in 4th grade reading and math nationally.
Record investment in public education for six years running.
Teacher pay raises 7 out of the last 8 years.
Put prayer back in public schools.
Banned men from competing in women’s sports.
Scholarships for law enforcement and military dependents.
8 weeks of paid parental leave for teachers.
Childcare tax credit for working parents.
Meanwhile, the only education policy you’re championing would take close to 40,000 students out of a school that best meets their needs. Keep in mind that the program gives priority to the impoverished families you claim to care about.
Your record doesn’t come close to ours. If it did, you’d be talking about how you’ve made Alabama better instead of throwing stones at the people who are actually getting things done.
Dems should have absolutely done that, even in those years when you were a Democrat. I’ll give that. But that’s a pretty weak response when we’ve had a Republican governor for 23 years and you have had a super majority in the legislature for 15 years. The economy you have built is not working for the average Alabamian. We top the list in personal bankruptcies, top of the list in debt collection lawsuits, we’re 7th in the number of folks in poverty, we’re third in the country in having the lowest workforce participation rate, we have almost 20% of the population facing hunger every day, we’re losing farms from one end of the state to the other, we’re losing rural hospitals left and right and healthcare delivery is near the bottom, you’re sucking money out of the education trust fund to go to private schools while the overall quality of public education still ranks near the bottom of all states (even Mississippi) and per pupil spending ranks near the bottom, quality of life consistently ranks at the bottom, the prison system is a disgrace while you rob the education trust fund to build a prison that is costing almost 3 times the original projection, electricity rates are some of the highest in the country while you guys have controlled the PSC for the last 25 years or so, retired teachers can’t get a COLA. And all of this may get worse thanks to “Coach” and his DC policies that have hurt so many in Alabama.
In your economy your rich corporate buddies are doing fine but the rest of Alabama is hurting.
People in Alabama are not stupid. They are not living in the past. They are struggling and they know who has been in charge while Alabama is stuck at the top of most lists that are bad and at the bottom of most that are good. They are ready for change.
You do realize Democrats had 136 years of control over the state Legislature. Why didn’t they cut the grocery tax then? Instead, they left the state BILLIONS in debt and voted to give themselves pay raises during the 2008 financial crisis while Alabamians were suffering.
We cut the grocery tax in half last quadrennium and delivered over $1.5B in tax relief. We’ve been able to do that while fixing the education system your buddies broke and building the strongest economy in our state’s history. The same delusional leadership you brought to your brief stint in the U.S. Senate is showing in a big way right now. Can’t wait for Coach to send you packing… again.

Well it’s about damn time. Your Democratic colleagues have been proposing elimination of the tax on groceries for years, I have been talking about it since I started my campaign, but it takes the realization of the possibility of losing the governorship and a bunch of seats in the legislature 2 weeks before the election for you guys to have an election year conversion for something that should be happened years ago while you have been in charge.
I was proud to join Pro Tem Gudger, Rep. Rex Reynolds, Rep. James Lomax, Rep. Phillip Rigsby, and Senator Sam Givhan this morning to announce our joint plan to fully eliminate Alabama’s grocery tax.
Combined with the 50% already cut over the last four years, this will put almost $500 back into the pockets of Alabamians. The bill is drafted and will be a day one priority of the 2027 Session.
Happy birthday to @GovernorKayIvey!
I’m grateful for her friendship and the steady hand she’s guided our state with these last nine years. Truly a special woman and one of the greatest governors in state history.
Thank you to the Economic Development Association of Alabama for the opportunity to discuss the future of Alabama’s economy with the local developers who are working to improve it every single day.
Every tax cut, every investment in education, and every policy that has made Alabama a better place to live has been the result of Republican leadership.
Get out and vote on November 3!
“Alabama is three weeks out from the November 3 General Election, and much like any other midterm election, turnout is a big concern,” Alabama Speaker of the House @RepLedbetter writes.
“And it should be.
The primary election in May left a lot of Republicans in an uneasy state of mind.
I’ve heard a lot of different reasons for the increase in Democratic voter participation and the lack thereof for Republicans – but the most prevalent excuse is the assertion that our state is becoming less red and more purple.
Voter demographics are always changing, and that is something Republicans need to be mindful of – but the data from past elections quickly dismisses the idea that Alabama is somehow rapidly shifting to a purple state.
What actually happened is that Republicans simply didn’t get out and vote.”

Thirteen new laws went into effect today, including one that my office worked to get passed during the last two Legislative Sessions: The Law Enforcement Dependent Scholarship Act.
This legislation provides up to $2,500 per semester for spouses and children of law enforcement officers.
A well deserved and long-overdue THANK YOU to the men and women who protect our great state.
Alabama is adding jobs in skilled trades faster than almost every other state in the country.
That’s great news, but our workforce development efforts must not only match that growth but surpass it. We aren’t there yet, but we can get there by giving every high school student in every zip code in Alabama access to the training and opportunities they need to build a great career.
Alabama added skilled trades jobs faster than Texas, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee over the past six years, according to a national report released Wednesday by a corporate alliance founded by BlackRock, Carhartt, Ford and Google.

I don’t think it’s a stretch at all to say that Alabama has one of America’s most effective U.S. senators in Katie Britt.
Congratulations, @SenKatieBritt, on this recognition, and thank you for always putting Alabama first.
Nathaniel Ledbetter retweeted
State and local leaders, educators, students and community partners gathered in Troy Thursday to celebrate another major milestone in Alabama’s ongoing investment in Career and Technical Education (CTE).
“Every major economic development win begins with a skilled workforce,” Speaker @RepLedbetter said. “When we invest in Career and Technical Education, we are investing directly in Alabama’s students, our communities and the future of our economy.”

I was proud to be in Troy this morning to cut the ribbon on the Academy Street Career Innovation Academy—the second career tech center opened under the Alabama Career Pathways Program.
This $40M facility will train generations of students from Pike and Dale Counties for high-paying, in-demand careers across Alabama’s Wiregrass Region.
God had his hands on this U.S. Marshall when he came face to face with one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives today. He is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Alabama’s law enforcement officers risk their lives every day to protect our state. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid.
$200,000+ supporting conservation and rural development projects is coming to DeKalb County. This funding will enhance outdoor recreation, support local non-profits, and strengthen the community we love.
Thank you to the Alabama Association of RC&D Councils for its support.
There’s no better way to spend a Friday night than cheering on the Plainview Bears at home. TOO MUCH BLUE!
This is a game changer not only for the Gulf Coast but for the entire state of Alabama.
Hats off to @GovernorKayIvey, @SenTuberville, @SenKatieBritt, and our entire federal delegation for working with @POTUS to finally move this desperately needed project forward.

DeKalb County is taking FULL advantage of the SEEDs Act - an initiative designed to boost industrial recruitment by providing large employers with shovel ready sites.
Both Collinsville and Fyfe were awarded grants totaling $57,000 that will help our community develop its industrial parks and create good-paying jobs.
It’s been 25 years since our nation was attacked on 9/11, but the events that occurred on that September morning are forever etched into the minds of those who lived through them.
On that horrific day, we saw the very best of our nation. From the first responders to the Americans in and around the World Trade Center to the incredibly brave passengers aboard United 93, Americans stepped up to help their fellow countrymen.
May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the courage that defined our nation in the days that followed.
It was great to spend some time with Daisha Wilks and Dalton Hamby—two Alabamians who are competing on this season of The Amazing Race!
Our state is proud of these two!
