This was a despicable act by a white supremacist that was looking to inflict harm on Indian Americans. I’m grateful that @CongressmanRaja and his family are safe, but incidents like this shouldn’t be a normal occurrence in the United States. We must stand together against hate and protect the fundamental right of every American to practice their religion freely and without fear.
My family and I were worshipping at our Hindu temple in Aurora on Sunday when a white supremacist attempted a mass shooting targeting Indian Americans. I'm grateful to those who helped prevent a tragedy, but we must come together to confront the hatred that put so many innocent lives at risk.

ICE agents have terrorized our communities for long enough. Time and time again, they’ve shown us they’re willing to break the law and evade accountability simply because this administration says they can. Dallas won't let them operate in the shadows, and neither should Congress.

The 500,000 voter application backlog shouldn’t have happened in the first place- let alone this close to an election. Voters deserve answers about how this happened and what’s being done to ensure it never happens again.
Election officials across Texas appear to have cleared a backlog of over 500,000 voter registration applications and updates that went unprocessed due to a Department of Public Safety software error. texastribune.org/2026/10/14/…

On this day in 1792, the cornerstone of the White House was laid. For 230+ years, it has stood as a symbol of the American presidency. Now Trump is tearing into that history to build himself a massive ballroom. George Washington laid the foundation for the presidency. Trump wants to leave behind a monument to his own ego.

The Texas story begins with its Indigenous peoples. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples shaped this land, from its earliest communities and trade routes to the art, craftsmanship, and traditions that helped define Texas culture. On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor that history and recognize the Native Texans whose cultures remain a living part of our state’s heritage.

College applications can get expensive fast. Next week, Texas students can cross those fees off the list! October 12–18 is Texas Free College Application Week, and application fees are waived at public colleges and universities across the state. That’s one less expense standing between you and your next big step. Take advantage of it at ApplyTexas.org! dallasnews.com/news/educatio…

Three years after the horrific terrorist attack on Israel, we remember the victims and their families whose lives were forever changed on this day. While war rages on in the region, we also cannot forget the devastation that has occurred in Gaza and the West Bank. It is time for peace, diplomacy, and an end to this ongoing violence in the Middle East that President Trump has egged on with his illegal war in Iran and continued support for Israel's offensive weaponry.

Due to the monumental backlog of voter registrations, Texas election officials are calling recent updates to the state’s voter registration system a ‘systematic failure’. State Republicans have sewn chaos into Texas' electoral system just weeks before a crucial election.
Local officials across the state have raised concerns about Texas’ voter registration system since the state rolled out a long-awaited upgrade more than a year ago. Now they must use the system to resolve a backlog of hundreds of thousands of voter registration records. texastribune.org/2026/10/05/…

Big win for Big Bend: A U.S. District Judge has haulted all border wall construction through our national treasure. Big Bend belongs to the American people, not a construction crew. Protecting our border should never mean destroying the land that makes Texas extraordinary. houstonpublicmedia.org/artic…

This October, we stand with survivors. We must work together to make ensure everyone in our communities feels safe, heard, and respected.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We're working everyday to end the stigma around abuse, empower survivors, and pass legislation to bolster resources and pathways to justice. This month and everyday we’re showing up for survivors.

DHS just admitted in court that they’re starting border construction AGAIN in @BigBendNPS. We stood united the first time against this despicable decision, and we’ll do it again. Big Bend belongs to Texas.
BREAKING: DHS just confirmed they have lifted their "pause" on construction in Big Bend National Park. They've put Texas' crown jewel national park right back on the chopping block. We'll be in court tomorrow in El Paso demanding a permanent halt to the destruction.

As President Trump and Pete Hegseth order our armed services to violate our laws and ignore our Constitution, I’m working to make sure we have a backstop in place for service members who are "just following orders". I recently introduced the Enduring Accountability Act to make sure unlawful orders still has consequences. Read more about the bill below 👇
