Take a freaking note, @Reds
The Brewers are being celebrated like they invented baseball.
They are doing things that have become unusual.
They have an old school tough manager who players love playing for.
They focus on basic easy to understand basic fundamentals.
They have a hitting coach that was an overachieving player for skill that played in the big leagues.
They hit the ball the other way.
They value putting the ball in play.
They adjust their approach based on situation and count.
They are not addicted to exit velocity and launch angle bullshit.
They bunt and steal bases.
They do not have selfish superstars that need to be treated like celebrities.
The Brewers simply play the game how it was meant to be played.
As a lifelong @Reds fan, I just want to send a shout out to all @Brewers fans to say congrats. I'm happy for you; you've taken the right approach to running a ball club. You're not just winning it; you're dominating. You earned the crap outta this, now go get it! #WorldSeries

If you stood before God tonight and He asked, “Why should I let you into heaven?” what would your reason be?
One sentence or less.

Today on a long drive I worked through a four-part series on the life and martyrdom of William Tyndale. The more I listened, the heavier it got.
Tyndale was hunted, exiled, and betrayed for the “crime” of translating the Bible into English so ordinary people could read it. He was eventually strangled and burned at the stake in 1536. His dying prayer was, “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.” He never lived to see the English Bible widely available. Yet his work shaped the language of the King James Bible and countless translations that followed.
A few hours later we pulled into a Pilot station. I’ve seen the Bible racks in those stores a hundred times, but after hearing what Tyndale endured, it stopped me cold. There, in a truck stop in America, sat copies of the Word of God that anyone could buy for a few dollars. No stake. No exile. No threat of death. Just a shelf by the coffee and the donuts.
We are still living off the blood and courage of that man. The same Book he died to give us is so common in our culture that it can sit unnoticed next to the jerky and the sunglasses. That should not go unnoticed.
Do not treat lightly what others paid for with their lives. Open it. Read it. Obey it. And do not let the ease of access breed indifference. The English Bible is not an accident of history. It is the fruit of a martyr’s obedience. Honor it.

Lutheranism is biblically orthodox, confessionally sound & catholic in the truest sense. We don’t need to borrow legitimacy from Rome or Constantinople. Among confessing Christians, we stand on the Word, hold to the ancient faith & confess the true Church of Christ. ☩

Twitter is the lazy-ass on-your-couch version of a drunk on a bar stool espousing his opinions about the Bible and politics.
Everybody thinks their opinion has merit but their hot takes are no deeper than what comes from a drunk on a bar stool.
