There is no nonsense so gross that a certain section of society will not, at some time, make a doctrine of it and defend it with every weapon of communal stupidity.

Honest feedback is a form of respect. What's worked for me: ask permission, name the specific behavior, and say why it matters to the team. Gen Z isn't asking for softer feedback, just feedback that comes from someone clearly on their side.

Agreed that servant leadership has to leave the training room. What makes it stick is follow-through: a mentor who checks in at 30 days, and a community accountability measure that participants help define themselves. Practice beats a workshop every time.

Through today’s training in Pakwach, participants strengthened their skills in advocacy, community mobilisation and government engagement. Lead with integrity, engage decision-makers and turn community concerns into action for accountable governance and better public services.
Accountability starts when citizens have a voice in decisions that affect them. In Pakwach, participants are exploring how advocacy and constructive engagement with government can help communities shape public service delivery. How can citizens make their voices count?

Those sorts of things require well-developed vertical and horizontal coordination… GoU is very weak on both. And developing them takes more than aggression… and windy rhetoric.

If I were a cynical advisor to Army Chief Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, I would advise him to cast himself as the NSSF’s guardian angel against the vultures circling it; be an advocate of low tax; campaign to build cement roads with mass participation of local masons; require all major contractors to list on the stock exchange and publish all contracts; and to pay a quarterly basic income to all families below the poverty line. I tell you, warts and all, there would no force that could stop or delay his rise to the Ugandan presidency. Fortunately I am not his adviser, so I don’t have to🤷🏽‍♂️
After lost decades of corruption, waste, and incompetence, nothing illustrates Uganda’s decline (or even slow-motion-collapse) than the fact that officialdom now sees mainly ONE SOURCE as the answer to all the nation’s economic problems; it’s long-suffering workers’ pile of savings in the National Social Security Fund ( NSSF)! When that too has been eaten, then true hell will break out. We ain’t seen nothing yet.

Servant leadership only counts once it leaves the training room, so pairing it with coaching is smart. The test I use: can a frontline person name one decision that changed because they pushed back? If not, accountability is still a slide deck, not a habit.

Digital platforms can amplify youth voices and mobilise communities for change. Through practical digital engagement sessions, participants build skills to use online tools for advocacy, campaigning, and community mobilisation.
Young people need more than a voice; they need the skills to influence decisions. Through advocacy, lobbying and stakeholder mapping, participants are learning how to engage decision-makers and advance issues affecting their communities.

Many citizens lack awareness of digital platforms and the skills needed to use them to report governance concerns. @actionaiduganda is addressing this gap by equipping communities to engage in accountability processes and advocate for transparent public services.

The intensity of the debate around @qataharraymond is itself a measure of his stature. We debate what we value. If it were a Full Figure or a Mwesigye, there would be no debate because there is no serious public capital at stake. Attention is a form of respect. Let us wish our good brother @qataharraymond well.

I would be disappointed if Raymond’s decision did not elicit an intense public debate. It is because people take him seriously. If he were, say, a Full Figure of sorts, no one would have bothered as much. So don't begrudge, much less quarrel with, anyone for expressing their opinions. Let us wish Raymond well.

Reason grows by counter-reason, not by ad hominem. To attack @Joshua_lawel the person instead of his position is to abandon philosophy itself.
What a load of balderdash! Proper overreach. What’s this chap done with his life to imagine that he’s got the range to give someone of Raymond’s calibre cares guidance? I’ve known this Raymond since he was 19. At that age, he was already postulating big ideas and engaging senior government officials.

It’s disheartening , isn’t it? Every time he speaks, he wears his illiteracy like a badge. And in every argument, he is reminded of how few books he has touched. Perhaps he should use his energy to solve that puzzle.
