Robert Kabera asked for protection, but neither the Ugandan government nor @Refugees provided him with the protection he needed. His death raises serious questions about the safety of Rwandan refugees and the failure to protect those at risk.
This is a broader issue affecting Rwandan refugees across #Africa, particularly in East Africa, where many fear persecution, abduction, or assassination by agents of @PaulKagame’s regime. Tragically, their concerns are too often ignored, and their calls for protection go unheard by host governments and the international community.
How many more Rwandan #refugees must suffer or lose their lives before the world takes their plight seriously?

SERGEANT ROBERT: KIGALI’S HAND STRIKES AGAIN IN UGANDA!
FDU-Inkingi strongly condemns the assassination of Sergeant Major Robert Kabera, a former RPF soldier who became an outspoken critic of Paul Kagame’s government, reportedly killed in #Uganda on 17 October 2026.
His killing raises serious concerns about transnational repression targeting Rwandan political opponents and refugees. It recalls previous cases, including the murder of journalist Charles Ingabire in 2011, the killing of André Kagwa Rwisereka in 2010, and the abduction of Joel Mutabazi in 2013.
For FDU-Inkingi, public threats allegedly made against Sergeant Robert reinforce the urgent need to investigate every possible lead, including potential involvement by individuals linked to Kigali, which remains to be independently established.
FDU-Inkingi demands an independent, impartial and transparent investigation, effective protection for Rwandan refugees in Uganda, and strict respect for the principle of non-refoulement.
The party calls upon #UNHCR, the African Union and the international community to ensure accountability and prevent further attacks against Rwandan dissidents abroad.

Congolese reporters seem to have unfortunately misunderstood the facts in the @nytimes article referenced below. According to the article, $17.6 million was transferred from a DRC government account to TX-AT, a Texas-based defense and security firm that supplies defense equipment to U.S. and international law enforcement agencies. The DRC is fighting a war involving Rwanda and #M23, so a transaction with an American defense supplier is not, in itself, unusual. We need more of this.
The problem is that TX-AT is now linked to a brewing scandal in D.C. And despite attempts by President @PaulKagame's agents and allies to connect the DRC to this controversy, the payment itself does not establish wrongdoing by the DRC government. Just as you are not responsible for how your landlord spends your rent money, the DRC is not responsible for how an American company spends funds received for military equipment.
The DRC is fighting for its survival, and misinformation is President @PaulKagame's favorite weapon. Congolese journalists must avoid unintentionally spreading misinformation that could be used to discredit the DRC before the United States Congress and the world. Report the facts. It might save your country.

D’après le New York Times, un transfert de fonds vers une société texane de sécurité et de défense a déclenché une enquête de la Maison-Blanche sur un différend entre Richard Grenell et Alina Habba Mildon. L’affaire implique également Turhan Mildon, homme d’affaires turc présenté comme conseiller de Félix Tshisekedi, dont la société Milvest a remporté plusieurs marchés publics congolais.
La destination finale des fonds reste floue. Les autorités congolaises n’ont pas répondu au quotidien américain.
17,6 millions de dollars : les Congolais ont le droit de savoir ce que cache cette transaction.

📍De l’#AFDL au #RCD, du #CNDP au #M23_1, #M23_2, puis à l’#AFC_M23 et désormais au #FRN, l’est de la #RDC connaît une succession de rébellions dont les changements d’appellation ne doivent pas masquer les continuités. Ces mouvements ont des similitudes mais pas strictement identiques dans leur composition ou leur histoire, mais leurs filiations et leurs soutiens extérieurs permettent d’interroger une même logique : ➡️ entretenir une influence militaire et politique sur le territoire congolais sous couvert de revendications renouvelées.
‼️Dans le cas de l’AFC/M23, les constats des experts des #Nations_Unies sont particulièrement accablants : soutien militaire rwandais, contrôle territorial et circuits d’exportation illicite de minerais vers le #Rwanda. Ces éléments étayent une critique fondamentale de la politique de #Paul_Kagame : les justifications sécuritaires avancées par #Kigali ne sauraient occulter les intérêts économiques liés à la domination de territoires riches en ressources. La sécurité ne peut servir de paravent à la prédation.
📍Le FRN, annoncé sous la direction de #Joseph_Kabila, s’inscrit directement dans cette continuité puisqu’il reprend les composantes de l’AFC/M23. Il apparaît ainsi comme une recomposition politique de la rébellion existante. Cette succession renforce l’analyse d’une stratégie de renouvellement des façades, même si elle ne suffit pas, à elle seule, à établir que Kagame commande personnellement chaque décision du nouveau front.
🔁 📍Changer d’enseigne n’efface ni les victimes ni les responsabilités. Aucun nouveau sigle ne saurait exonérer les auteurs, commanditaires ou complices des crimes antérieurs, dont les responsabilités doivent être établies individuellement. Paul Kagame doit comprendre que ces recompositions ne peuvent indéfiniment tromper les Congolais et les peuples des Grands Lacs - #RGLA : la paix exige la fin des ingérences, du pillage et de l’#impunité.

The news article below offers a glimpse into why the DRC and its duly elected government are under attack. Ever since President #Tshisekedi signed a historic minerals partnership with the United States, the attacks against him and the DRC have intensified.
Just yesterday, Belgian authorities raided the homes of President Tshisekedi’s family members in Belgium. This occurred just days after former DRC President #Kabila admitted to leading #M23 and stated his intent to illegally remove President Tshisekedi from office. The timing cannot simply be a coincidence.
The Europeans and their friend, President @PaulKagame, view the DRC as their domain. The U.S. playing a key role in the DRC is a threat to European exploitation of the Congolese people. The United States should deepen its friendship with the DRC, for our shared economic and national security interests are now intertwined.

As has become customary, the rwandan state was conspicuous by its absence and failed in its duty to protect. The population must therefore understand that it is long past time to join us, FDU-Inkingi, and pursue the struggle for a responsible state that respects the rule of law and can ensure the physical, economic and social protection of Rwandan citizens.

Le 14 Octobre de chaque année : INGABIRE DAY, Journée dédiée à la solidarité avec le prisonniers politiques et d'opinion.m, y compris les journalistes emprisonnés.
Mais le pouvoir rwandais a réussi à transformer cette journée de solidarité en une nouvelle occasion de persécution... Il devient donc interdit de demander la liberté pour les prisonniers politiques et d'opinion.
Le #Rwanda ne construira pas une paix durable en remplissant ses prisons d'opposants politiques. La stabilité d'une nation ne se mesure pas au silence imposé à ses citoyens, mais à leur capacité de s'exprimer librement, de défendre leurs convictions et de participer sans crainte à la vie publique.
Le président #Kagame et son gouvernement ne peuvent pas prétendre avoir réconcilié le peuple tout en refusant à aux citoyens le droit de penser autrement. Ils ne peuvent pas prétendre défendre la paix en emprisonnant ceux qui réclament pacifiquement la démocratie.

We cannot deny the DRC government (@Presidence_RDC) the weapons and military resources it needs to defend itself against President @PaulKagame's terrorist proxies, only to turn around and condemn the DRC for struggling to defend its sovereignty with limited resources. That is not sound foreign policy. That is setting up an allied nation for failure.
The security of the DRC is in the national security interests of the United States. President #Kagame’s friends in Moscow and Beijing are waiting for the DRC to fall. This cannot be allowed to happen. President @realDonaldTrump brilliantly demonstrated the value of U.S. military assistance in Nigeria. It is time to extend that commitment to the DRC.
This is the time for a U.S.–DRC defense partnership. The U.S. should train and arm a first-class DRC defense force to defend its sovereignty. Someone is providing high-tech weapons to #Kagame’s proxies, undermining U.S. strategic interests. An attack on the DRC is an attack on the U.S. critical minerals supply chain. The sooner we realize this, the better.

Grateful to the @ResistBureau for the opportunity to speak following powerful testimonies from courageous voices defending democracy and human rights.
I highlighted the case of Rwandan opposition leader Victoire Ingabire and why international solidarity matters.
Sovereignty is not a licence to violate fundamental human rights. Calling demands for the release of political prisoners “foreign interference” does not erase a state's international human rights obligations.
Authoritarian regimes across borders use similar tactics to silence dissent. Our solidarity must also cross borders.
