Excited to share the latest study on peripheral nerve repair by the Stassart/Fledrich lab! See how Schwann cells communicate with adipocytes to adjust their metabolism for successful regeneration. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
Dear fellow scientists, please come to Bluesky. It’s a beautiful place medpagetoday.com/special-rep…
Thrilled that the DFG will fund our #NeuroTune graduate school in Leipzig with €5.7M for 5 tandem projects creating over 40 PhD positions. The Stassart/Fledrich lab is proud to host two projects, exploring adaptive myelination in diverse contexts.

Happy to share that my PhD project found a home with @EmboMolMed! We pharmacologically and genetically modified aberrant myelin growth in rodent models of PMP22 gene dosage diseases. Details below 🧵

With the passing of Laura Feltri we lost a valued colleague who made incredible contributions to PNS research and beyond. She leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Injury to peripheral #nerves in the body can result in pain and movement disorders. Scientists at #UniLeipzig have recently investigated how damaged nerves can regenerate better. Fatty tissue supports the healing process. #Medicine @RFledrich uni-leipzig.de/en/newsdetail…

New! Online now: Adipo-glial signaling mediates metabolic adaptation in peripheral nerve regeneration dlvr.it/Sz4qhM
Acute nerve injury triggers leptin receptor expression by Schwann cells. Leptin released from adipose tissue then stimulates mitochondrial respiration and myelin autophagy in Schwann cells to promote nerve repair.
Great job @vks24865, Vlad and Nele! Big thanks to @DoctorPAF , @pepegosaelx , @ClaraMutschler, @annaslbch, @emh_es, @TheresaKungl, @KlausNave, @ost_mario and everybody involved!
