The perfect timing and sequence of events this week has been extremely sus:
1) Harry Doomer unknown random guy algo boosted post to 120M+ views
2) Dem politicians same day fearmongering about AI everywhere
3) MSM picking it up an amplifying it
4) Nate Soares (MIRI) on Tucker
5) UK regulators signing letter to ban ASI
6) The Dario letter asking for Doomer NGOs to have soft power everywhere and asking for world government
We are watching a full-spectrum coordinated campaign to engineer a crisis, manufacture consent for the response, and turn engineered public fear into regulatory capture, indelible institutional power, and unprecedented government control over the future of the most important technology since the dawn of man.
Whether we cave to this engineered pressure and give up our freedoms will determine our collective fate, and whether we live in centrally controlled restrictive future, or remain a free civilization.
We must choose wisely.

Privacy is a human right
Crazy how eager society is to dismantle it at every level

if your girl:
- drinks a lot of water
- causes drama
- remembers everything
that's not your girl, that's a data center

It's a fundamental human right to own your own intelligence.
When software was expensive - thin, horizontal, best-of-breed software stacks extracted rents across every business.
Now that software is cheap - value moves to vertically integrated businesses that deliver opinionated end-to-end experiences.

all these agent-internet standards are making me dizzy. and it kinda seems like none of them are getting adopted?
then i came across another one yesterday, web bot auth, and thought: "wait, does this compete with the machine payments protocol?"
so i went digging. thread ⬇️
Smithers is a harness sdk. You use it to easily build a custom fitted harness for a problem. Excited to ship benchmarks this week
The harness matters more than the model.
Models have gotten really good. Great reasoning, large context windows, better instruction following.
But, what makes *use* of those capabilities is actually the harness. It's what provides tools, memory, skills and context to the model.
ChatGPT is a harness. Claude Cowork is a harness.
Without the harness, the model is just an engine with no car. You don't get anywhere.
When people collaborate with agentic intermediaries, *someone*has to possess the model of what is going on. Entrusting this to agents doesn’t work well yet because agents today have very transient, mutable models. Starting now is possible if *someone* holds a model of what is being coordinated on

Why does it feel like we are still very far from realizing the full vision of web3?
I think it's worth reconsidering our approach:

welcome to the real world, where only real things matter, which is why your pulse is being regulated by an unread email, your week by a calendar grid, your confidence by a number assembled from past purchases, your passport by a line drawn before your birth, your rent by a market no one has ever seen, your diet by a future beach, your politics by a flag, your sleep by a sentence someone said in 2017, your medical options by a code, your self-respect by a mirror, your prospects by a spreadsheet, your grief by a photograph, your body by a diagnosis, your diagnosis by a committee, your committee by a funding model, your funding model by interest rates, your interest rates by expectations, your expectations by headlines, your headlines by metrics, your metrics by an auction, your auction by scripts, and your scripts by people who still say they only believe in “what’s actually there.” excellent. very rugged. very primitive in a classical sense. meanwhile the “fake” corporation owns the “real” building, the “imaginary” border searches the “physical” body, the “symbolic” wedding changes tax status, the “fictional” trust controls land, the “social construct” gets a prison sentence entered under it, the “mere story” starts a war, the “just statistical” risk score changes the insurance premium, the “virtual” item sells for more than the chair you’re sitting on, the “performative” apology moves the stock price, the “placebo” reduces pain, the “rumor” clears a room faster than fire, the “copy” becomes evidence, the “simulation” becomes training data, the “forecast” reorganizes agriculture, the “brand” outlives the founder, the “algorithm” notices a pattern no one can name and denies the loan with machine serenity, the “memory” alters posture, the “possibility” becomes doctrine, the “model” becomes policy, the “policy” becomes hunger, the “hunger” becomes crime, the “crime” becomes identity, the “identity” becomes searchable, and the search result becomes more operational than the person. but yes, by all means, keep guarding the frontier between Real Things You Can Kick and Fake Things Made Of Language, as if language had not spent several thousand years manufacturing gods, empires, debt obligations, constitutions, curses, diagnoses, markets, genres, marriages, races, disciplines, heresies, derivatives, reputations, and the tiny invisible grooves through which your desire now travels on schedule. very reassuring to believe the real is only made of matter, right until matter starts obeying form: until the body reacts to a symbol, the crowd to a slogan, the judge to a phrase, the market to a rumor, the child to a name, the archive to a query, the limb to an absence, the city to a map, the soldier to a uniform, the lover to a look, the patient to a prognosis, the future to a probability distribution, the present to an inherited script, and the script to nothing you can locate with tweezers. at which point the binary mind does what it always does when reality becomes inconveniently plural: it calls half of causality fake and then spends the rest of the day obeying it.
Replying to @pmarca
that may be true but imaginary things have real effects so it is still worthwhile to consider our creation and manipulation of these concepts

There's only so many ways and words to tell you we're having a direct experience of the supreme right right now
Who has read/write access to your brain (ai or human)?
Identity and access controls are such deep substrates of data, communication, and digital/cybernetic interactions. Claude will not solve these problems for you, but we are at @TinyCloudLabs
