Gaining therapeutic access to the human brain is one of the biggest unsolved problems in biomedical science.
Today @nature, we uncover a massive influx of immune cells into the human brain during aging, revealing that the brain is more accessible than previously thought. 1/

It's been a while now, but @DrFlashHeart and I are excited to share that our work exploring somatic gene x environment interactions between CHIP and air pollution in lung cancer is now published in @JNCI_Now
doi.org/10.1093/jnci/djag159
Air pollution is a recently recognized driver of lung cancer among never-smokers.
In a new preprint, we show that clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) and PM2.5 form a novel gene × environment interaction promoting NSCLC tumorigenesis.

✨ Thrilled to share our new publication in Nature.
We define an “inflammatory memory” HSC state (HSC‑iM), linking lifelong inflammatory exposure to aging and disease.

@rheumrob,@AlexBickMDPhD, & I are excited to share that our work is now out in @jclinicalinvest! CHIP epi studies underestimate the association between CHIP & disease using WGS vs deep sequencing. Many thanks to the co-authors, participants, & reviewers! doi.org/10.1172/JCI198861
Using a unique cohort of 10k doubly sequenced people in @VUMCDiscoveries's BioVU, @AlexBickMDPhD, @yash_pershad, and I investigated how well #WGS data really works for detecting #CHIP. medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…. Thread below! 1/n

Happy to share that our work on TET2 CH in ICI therapy is now out in @CR_AACR!
We found that TET2 mutations promote myeloid co-stimulatory programs and suppress T cell exhaustion, contributing to improved immunotherapy response!
