Congratulations to Dr. Fanwang Meng, a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow & Winner of the 2025 John Charles Polanyi Prize! His AI research in drug discovery is advancing medical science and reducing costly late-stage failures. We’re proud to celebrate his talent and dedication!
Nearly 94 per cent of promising new drugs fail before reaching patients, often because problems emerge late in development.
#QueensU researcher Fanwang Meng is working to change that by developing machine learning models that analyze chemical structures and experimental data to help scientists identify potential risks earlier in the drug discovery process.
The research has earned him the John Charles Polanyi Prize in Chemistry, one of Ontario’s top honours for early-career scientists.
