Jeff has been a longtime critic of Rory, the PGA Tour, and the liberal golf media, long before LIV!
CBS’s St. Jude, FedEx Tributes Ring Hollow as PGA Tour Prepares to Leave Memphis Behind
By @JeffSmithGolf
There was something almost surreal about listening to CBS spend Sunday afternoon extolling the virtues of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, FedEx and the PGA Tour’s decades-long relationship with Memphis.
Jim Nantz delivered the familiar reverent tones. The broadcast leaned heavily into the history. St. Jude was presented, rightly, as something far larger than a golf tournament. FedEx was celebrated as one of the sport’s most important corporate partners. The event was framed as a marriage of golf, philanthropy and civic identity.
And yet hanging over all of it was an uncomfortable reality the broadcast could not quite reconcile:
The PGA Tour is moving on.
As part of the Tour's planned 2028 Championship Series overhaul, Memphis is not being considered for any slot on the top tier's revamped schedule — effectively kicking one of professional golf’s longest-running corporate and charitable partnerships to the curb.
That context made some of Sunday’s television feel less like a celebration and more like an obituary nobody wanted to acknowledge.
For decades, FedEx has been about as loyal a corporate partner as the PGA Tour could possibly ask for.

The PGA Tour's Playoffs Are Becoming a Punchline
by @teetalktom @JeffSmithGolf
The PGA Tour would very much like you to believe its playoffs have arrived.
The graphics say FedExCup Playoffs. The commercials say playoffs. The announcers repeatedly remind viewers that the season is now on the line. There are points projections flashing across the screen, players on the “bubble,” and a three-week march supposedly designed to crown golf’s champion.
There is just one problem:
None of it actually feels like the playoffs.
And if the 2026 FedEx St. Jude Championship was supposed to be the opening act for the PGA Tour’s postseason, it instead provided perhaps the best evidence yet that the entire concept desperately needs to be reimagined.
Memphis in August.
Temperatures approaching 100 degrees.
A golf course that looked cooked on TV.
Sparse galleries.
Virtually no atmosphere.
Players and spectators seemingly trying to survive the heat rather than generate postseason electricity.
Then Scottie Scheffler won by eight shots.
Some playoffs.

Don't personally know Bryson or Rory but been around both many times, at many PGA Tour events.
Bryson is a super nice guy, little awkward at times, but friendly to everyone. Rory is the biggest dick on tour, including Tiger. And it's not even close. His whole persona is totally fake. Just a total ass behind the scenes. Ask Steve Elkington.
