A4LI is proud to be a Community Partner for @foresightinst’s Vision Weekend USA 2026, taking place November 13–15 in San Francisco. Since 1992, Vision Weekend has brought together researchers, builders, and funders working at the forefront of science and technology. This year’s program explores longevity biotech, brain-computer interfaces, AI resilience, and more. Advances in aging science have the potential to transform human health, but translating scientific progress into real-world impact also requires thoughtful policy. Connecting the people driving innovation with those working to advance it is an important part of that process. We look forward to joining the conversation and connecting with others working to extend healthy human lifespan. Learn more and get your tickets: foresight.org/events/vision-…
Private personal AI. Reversing cellular age. Brain-computer interfaces. Universal fabricators. Funding human agency. New life on Mars. Whether AI can be conscious, and whether it matters. Nov 13-15, Vision Weekend returns to San Francisco! Three days of expert talks, curated 1-on-1s, tech demos, a $10K pitch grant, and our main 40th anniversary celebration in the US. Speakers include: • Wojciech Zaremba (OpenAI Foundation) • Matthew MacDougall (Neuralink) • Illia Polosukhin (NEAR Protocol) • Max Hodak (Science Corporation) • Matthew Botvinick (Anthropic) • Nan Ransohoff (Frontier Climate) • Séb Krier (Google DeepMind) • Seemay Chou (Astera Institute) • Robin Hanson (George Mason University) • Alex Gladstein (Human Rights Foundation) + many more. Full lineup in thread. Join us across iconic Bay Area locations, including Lighthaven, @internetarchive, USS Hornet aircraft carrier, and lab tours at @E11BIO, @LongshotSpace, @calwave_energy, @DolphinLabs, @ScienceCorp_ , plus a cypherpunk party at our AI node. Get tickets before prices increase Oct 1. Link in thread.

I believe the sweet spot may lie in pulsatile mTORC1 activation following resistance training, with periods of relative suppression to support cellular maintenance and autophagy. Timing, dose, and frequency of rapamycin may be critical. We need more human data.

Thanks! On behalf of all our amazing lab members and alumni 👏👏👏
Congratulations to our co-founder, @DavidASinclair on 25 years of the Sinclair Lab! The lab’s research into aging biology and epigenetics has contributed to scientific understanding in this field, which has set the foundation for our approach to #EpigeneticRestoration.

Good to know. Not sure about 1999. In 2002, when I found 2 people in NYC with #plague , CDC at that time told us it was available if needed. Thx for the update🙏🏽

Long-overdue study of menopause reveals it begins more than a decade before the final period. Uri Alon and collaborators analyze 300 million tests and use a mathematical technique from astronomy to shows HRT can delay many deleterious changes 🧵

There has always been a plague vaccine. It does not have widespread use. It is for high risk populations like military and lab workers.

Diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS can develop over many years, with protein misfolding and clumping contributing to damage in the brain and nervous system. By the time symptoms appear, significant damage may already have occurred. Understanding how these changes begin could open new opportunities to detect and treat disease earlier. @ARPA_H's new BIOGAMI program is tackling this challenge, investing up to $152 million over four years to understand how proteins become dysfunctional and develop ways to intervene. Six research teams, including those at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Johns Hopkins, MIT, and UC Berkeley, will combine protein science and computational tools to develop new approaches to early detection and treatment. While the initial focus is neurodegenerative disease, the findings could eventually have applications in cancer, diabetes, and other conditions. 📖 Read more here: arpa-h.gov/news-and-events/a… At A4LI, we're encouraged to see ARPA-H invest in understanding the underlying biology of disease. The earlier we can identify and address the processes that contribute to age-related conditions, the more opportunities researchers may have to change how these diseases are treated. We'll continue following BIOGAMI's progress and highlighting the work underway at ARPA-H to advance biomedical innovation.

Advances in longevity and robotics are urgent & necessary to counter the decline in human births. Even if a country’s rate goes to 2.1 tomorrow & its population would keep shrinking for 50 yrs. Workers who would be paying taxes in 2045 have already been born or not born

Big news!
History was made at the ARDD and @antonioregalado of @techreview broke the news. Both Lilly and Novo presented data from massive trials showing that GLP1s reduce biological age measured by methylation and proteomics data. We all expected it to happen some day. What a great time to be alive, my friends!

Fascinating work. It also fits beautifully with the evolutionary biology of aging. As the force of natural selection declines after reproduction, there was likely little evolutionary pressure to maintain somatic and epigenetic information with extraordinary fidelity indefinitely. The possibility that age-related loss of that information may be recoverable, rather than simply irreversible accumulated damage, is incredibly exciting.
