The decline of Glasgow's city centre isn’t inevitable, it’s the result of SNP cuts that have left our council stretched to breaking point.
We need to restore Glasgow’s budget, invest in frontline services, and get Glasgow cleaned up.

My contribution from the debate last night on the Troubles Legacy Bill. It needs a lot of improvement but we can’t miss this last chance to help victims get truth and justice.

A former SNP Housing Minister is attacking his party colleagues in Holyrood and Glasgow over Scotland's housing crisis.
As things stand the Scottish Government's on track to miss its 2032 housebuilding target by nearly a third.
Meanwhile Glasgow City Council is this year expected to spend £82m on hotels and B&Bs for the homeless. That's as it tries to fill a £110m funding gap over two years.
Alex Neil says funding should be moved from lower priorities - such as cycle lanes - to building houses. He's also calling for @hp_scotland's unauthorised night shelter to be allowed to stay open.

Education transformed my family’s story.
Scotland's education system was once among the best in the world, and I believe it can be again. That’s what we should be aiming for.
BREAKING: A landmark government report is set to reveal the vast scale of antisemitism in English schools and colleges, Sky News can exclusively reveal.
The report, written by former schools inspector Sir David Bell, will on Wednesday set out 27 recommendations to create change.

Every year, Rory Gallagher came home to Cork to play Macroom, Ireland’s first open-air rock festival.
In 1978, he made it legendary. He rolled up in a car, grabbed his battle-scarred ‘61 Strat, ran straight up the steps with no soundcheck, and tore into “Shin Kicker.”
Pure rock and roll.

The UN revoked the 1975 ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion in 1991 because it was a lie and an obstacle to peace.
If anyone is committed to conflict and destruction, at any level, it is your extremist and anti-semitic Green Party adopting 50 year old Soviet dogma.

The SNP centralise so they can control. They starve councils of money so they can control.
They block regional partnerships so they can control.
Let’s stop this nonsense and unleash the potential of our Scottish regions by empowering them.
We do that by working together.

SNP commissioned poll finds that 52% of Scottish residents would like to leave UK. YouGov study shows 53% want to stay. A More in Common poll says 52% want to stay. Idk who to believe. Except the bit where only 17% of people think it is a priority. That rings v true.

Visiting Manchester, or even Liverpool, you see what could be possible for Glasgow with proper regional devolution and control.
I genuinely hope the Scottish Government will take up this offer, as our city desperately needs it.

I said I would make the case for further devolution within Scotland directly to Downing Street and Bute House.
I’m delighted Andy is backing this approach, and I hope John Swinney does too. Let’s work together to put power in the hands of local people.

1/🚨Well, this is awkward. Very awkward. If Scotland had voted yes in 2014, the SNP’s triple lock commitment applied only for the first term of an independent parliament. Nicola Sturgeon was unambiguous about this in the Scottish Parliament (clip is from 26th November 2013).
Warning: Distressing and graphic language
An undercover investigation by ITV Exposure into Nigel Farage’s Reform UK has found multiple elected councillors and party candidates expressing racist views and using offensive language.
ITV has obtained secretly recorded footage showing Reform officials from across England and Wales using violent, racist and sexist language.
Councillors Alan Feeney, Chris Whelan and Jamie Campbell did not reply to our request for comment. Councillors Feeney and Whelan have since resigned from Reform UK.
In a statement shared with ITV News, Reform UK said: "Where members, activists and councillors have clearly behaved inappropriately, investigations have commenced. In some cases, there have been suspensions and due process must be followed."
"Reform UK has improved and prioritised its vetting procedures, but from time to time, a handful of individuals who do not share our values will initially make it through vetting. This is the same for all organisations."

Glasgow has potential, but SNP failures have left roads crumbling, services struggling and our city falling behind.
Glasgow Labour offers better services, stronger communities and an economy that works for everyone.
It’s time to get Glasgow moving.

When I met Angela Rayner to campaign for change to overly aggressive council tax debt collection, with its unprecedented rapid escalation to balliffs, she nodded like most politicians do.
I explained it was destructive for individuals, councils and the economy. She listened more then said she'd change it. I was sceptical. Yet a consultation was launched within weeks and delightfully the change announced within 18mths (its in place from next April) - bullet train pace for politics.
I've a rule that if I campaign for a politician (of any party) to do something, and they do it, I say thank you. Its important to recognise it. So thank you so much Angela Rayner for listening and more importantly acting. The changes coming are a great start.
I promised we'd make council tax fairer, and I’m getting on with the job.
Too many working people have seen council tax debt spiral before they had the chance to get help.
That's why we're introducing more time to pay, clearer warnings if you miss a payment and more support from councils.
Thanks to @MartinSLewis and @mmhpi for their tireless campaigning to make this change happen.

Ex-Scotland manager Craig Levein has revealed he once attended an exorcism with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown in an attempt to sign a player.
During a brief spell at Scottish second-division side Raith Rovers in 2006, Levein recalled how the politician set up a meeting with him as they tried to re-sign Marvin Andrews.
Brown, then Chancellor of the Exchequer and boyhood fan of Rovers, had decided to visit the defender at the church where he worked — but chose a day when they were “casting out demons”.
