Swiss glaciers lost 5% of their ice in 2026, accdg to GLAMOS. Their total volume has shrunk by nearly 20% in the last 5 years. This echoes the WMO’s #StateOfWater 2025 report, which found that every glaciated region on Earth lost ice in the last 5 years. bit.ly/WMOStateOfWater2025pr

The melting season for Arctic sea ice is about 40 days longer than in 1979. Much of that change happened prior to 2010, when the season length stabilized. The findings come from a @NASA-led study of satellite observations of Arctic sea ice from 1979-2023. go.nasa.gov/4yKFreB

An important moment today. Greenland, Denmark and the United States have signed an agreement strengthening security in the Arctic and North Atlantic. It’s been a bumpy ride. But here we are – with a deal in hand that we can all be very satisfied with. We share a long history. And we share a responsibility for the security of our region. Today, we take another important step together – with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Greenlandic people’s right to self-determination. History binds us together. Our future demands that we stand together. 🇬🇱🇩🇰🇺🇸
