The 996 Targa is the rarest body style in the entire 996 generation.
Only 5,152 were produced, all second-generation cars built between 2002 and 2005.
Where every Targa from 1967 through the 993 had used a removable roof panel with a signature Targa bar, the 996 threw that design away entirely.
In its place Porsche engineered a large tinted glass panel that extends from the windshield header to the rear window.
Press the button and it slides backward, nesting under the fixed rear glass.
The rear window itself is a glass hatch that opens to access the storage compartment, making the 996 Targa the most practical 911 of its generation.
The 996 Targa is rear-wheel drive only, unlike the 997, 991, and 992 Targas that followed, all of which came exclusively with all-wheel drive.
3.6L flat-six, 320 PS, M96 engine shared with the standard Carrera.
The IMS bearing concern that follows the M96 applies here too.
Know that the issue isn't really an issue since it didn't even affect over a percentage of the models depending on the model year.

This animated map shows Europe from 24,100 BC until today. The crust sags under the ice and rebounds after it, and the sea drops 130 m as the water is locked up. The interactive version allows you to tilt the map: buff.ly/Pfj3exH

One day, your home will be empty, and someone will have to decide what to do with your things. They'll open your drawers. They'll find the watch you treasured so much, the car you spent three years paying off, and the clothes you saved for special occasions because you didn't want to wear them out. And they'll make three piles: what to sell, what to give away, and what to throw away. None of it goes with you. Not a single thing. The only thing that goes with you is that afternoon you stayed talking for hours and didn't even realize where the time went. The look on your mom's face when you showed up to visit her without telling her you were coming. Don't collect things... Collect moments with the people you love

Map of Languages & Dialects in the Aegean in 700bc.
The Archaic Aegean
A complete map of Poleis and Tribes of the Aegean in exactly 700 bc, or the 1st year of the 20th olympiad, and 494 years after the Trojan War.
Zoom-ins and thread below.
Produced from “AN INVENTORY OF ARCHAIC AND CLASSICAL POLEIS” by Hansen & Nielsen (2004), the Pleiades gazetteer, Strabos Geographica, Homers Iliad and Oddysey, Hesiod, as well as various minor sources regarding Poleis territory. The map depics the De-facto controlled territory of independant Poleis and States, as well as the territories of tribal ethnes, which can be subdivided deeper in some cases.
The early Archaic Period was one of Tyrants and Oligarchs ruling over small Poleis (City-States) competing for dominance and driven by rapid population growth and a sense of claustrophobia to colonization of the Aegean, Mediterreanean and Black Seas.
Greek overseas settlement was therefore already well under way, with Euboeans founding Pithekoussai and Kyme earlier. by the decades around 700, Syracuse, Sybaris, Kroton, Taras, Korkyra, Parion, and Thasos were being founded or consolidated. Colonisation could be a civic expedition under a named founder, an outcome of civil conflict or exclusion, or a private initiative. Colonies often constitute entirely new independant Poleis with only ceremonial and cultural honors to their Mother city.

Antik Yunanca’da yaklaşık 1000 kelime hiçbir Hint-Avrupa diline bağlanamıyor.
Labirent. Zeytin. Atina. Athena. Ares. Akhilleus. Odysseus. Korinthos.
“En Yunan” sandığımız birçok şey, Yunanlar Ege’ye gelmeden önce burada konuşulan kayıp bir dilden geliyor.
Hint-Avrupalılar Pontus steplerinden göçerken zeytin, incir, servi, sümbül, deniz gibi şeylerle ilk kez karşılaştı. Kendi dillerinde bunlar yoktu.
• Rastgele telaffuz varyantları: Odysseus ~ Olysseus (Latin Ulixes / Ulysses); labyrinthos ~ Mycenaean daphurinthos
• Aynı anlama gelen çift kelimeler: biri yerli, biri yabancı
• Tekrarlayan ekler: -nth, -ss, -n, -mn
Antik yazarlar “Yunanca olmayan dil” konuşan halklardan bahsediyor. Yazı neredeyse yok. Geriye kelimeler kaldı.
İngilizce’ye kadar ulaşanlar: labyrinth, olive, oil, hyacinth, cypress, thesaurus, basil, tomb, asparagus, narcissus, mint…
Atina’nın adı, zeytinyağı, labirent miti… Kaybolmuş bir Ege halkının sesi hâlâ duruyor.
Diller ölünce tamamen gitmez. Bazen bir şehrin, bir tanrının, bir ağacın adında yaşamaya devam eder.
Peki ya kan? Dil bir katmanı gösteriyor, DNA başka bir katmanı. Modern Yunanlar gerçekten Antik Yunanların torunları mı?
