Announced roughly a year ago, MAPTISM is finally out MAPTISM dot org serves as a repository for all Maptism maps, animations, threads, graphics and other materials, easily and quickly accessible in full resolution and also in "tiled view". Currently host to a selection of curated maps, most with their respective articles and sources, over the coming days it will be updated to contain all Maptism maps and animations, as well as ported and reformatted twitter threads for easier viewing and reading. ~160 maps are on the backlog and will be ported over in the coming days. The site also includes a Commission form for easier Commission processing and more information for what type of Maps and Services we are able to provide: its not just prehistory! Right now, the main highlights are the Corded Ware and 2nd century Germanic threads ported over as well as the Mycenaean Maps. We're also stripping the "non-commercial" aspect of the licensing, and simply using CC BY 4.0 on the maps. Free for reuse, provided there is attribution.

Distribution of Slavic sites in Romania and Moldova during the Migration Period. These groups are the result of Prague-Korchak and Penk'ovka diffusing into the region and fusing into a homogeneous horizon, although ethnically these are identified mainly as Antes.

Corded Ware to Nordic Dagger and Bronze ages Combined
Getting a bit more experimental with the Charts, here is the Y-DNA breakdown of the Nordic Bronze Age and its relation to Corded Ware, Bell Beaker and the Nordic Dagger period. The majority of NBA R1a comes from Norway, and the NBA itself is not well sampled.

Origin of Lineages of ancient Celts Y-DNA Sankey Graphs showing the Evolution from the Beaker Culture to the Hallstatt Culture to the Laténe Celts of Antiquity. Hallstatts Y-DNA is differentiated from the Beaker period primarily by a large amount of G2a, specifically L497, while in the Laténe period R1b-P312 becomes bigger again. 43.5% of Hallstatt Lineages trace back to the Beaker culture, and 87.4% of Laténe lineages trace back to Hallstatt. Chart uses a Clade Depth of 12

Yamnaya, Corded Ware and Bell Beaker haplogroup similarity. 20 / 135 (14.8%) of Corded Ware have a clade from Yamnaya 156 / 179 (87.2%) of Bell Beaker have a clade from Corded Ware Using a clade depth of 11 from the first 3 digits
Updated and Corrected version accounting for missing samples and with deeper clades (Clade depth of 11 from the first 3 digits) Corded Ware has 20 / 135 samples on the same Clade as Yamnaya, which is a 14.8% similarity.

Updated and Corrected verison², accounting for (a good amount of) misidentified and contaminated samples. Its not looking good for Yamnayabros... Only 7.7% of Corded Ware samples carry Yamnaya Lineages. The picture isn't much better when using the R1b-dominated Bell Beakers, who have even less (7.2%) Yamnaya Lineages. Using a clade depth of 9, which is about equal to TMRCA of ~3000-3300bc for R1b.
Updated and Corrected version accounting for missing samples and with deeper clades (Clade depth of 11 from the first 3 digits) Corded Ware has 20 / 135 samples on the same Clade as Yamnaya, which is a 14.8% similarity.

This podcast is a preview of some of the threads of research I am going to cover in a forthcoming video about this important culture!
NEW EPISODE — Radio North Sea International — E27: The Ancestor of Celto-Germanics The insular Bell Beaker culture and the Nordic Bronze Age people are likely to share common roots in a regional variant of the Corded Ware culture in what later became the homelands of the Saxons.
