.@AOC asks on House floor why so many find the Green New Deal so controversial. "Because for years we have prioritized the pursuit of profit at any and all human and environmental cost. And I humbly ask my colleagues and my country to question our priorities for once."

It’s days like this when I most appreciate just how well Obama walked the tightrope of US-#Cuba political discourse, from his remarks in Miami at the 2008 CANF luncheon to his speech in Havana eight years later. All candidates with their eyes on FL should study it. No es fácil.

"I worked very hard for it" is the worst possible justification for being a billionaire. You know who works very hard? Single mothers working two minimum wage jobs with just-in-time scheduling and a bus commute.

Imp thread. Development in Miami feels more colonial everyday. Wealthy investors see neighborhoods of color as mere $ and rebranding targets
So many questions about this event. Are they taking into account the people who live in these communities? Is Miami really 4 Miamians? The community needs to be there. @RodriguezRene @NadegeGreen @https://www.bisnow.com/events/south-florida/wynwood-and-allapattah-expansion-4164

This myth of freedom and choice sounds wonderful til you realize your boss has the freedom and choice to fire you from this union job.
There are 14 million union workers in America who have fought hard for strong, employer-provided health benefits. Medicare for All Who Want It protects their plans and union members' freedom to choose the coverage that's best for them.

Win the nomination in a muddled field with no clear frontrunner, where the guy everyone claimed was dominant is now on the verge of collapse and the media is bouncing between flavors of the month? Warren has a plan for that. And she shows her work. nytimes.com/2020/02/11/us/po…

This is deeply problematic. We were seven years into an Obama presidency... What excuse can Bloomberg or his supporters provide for this?
Replying to @BenjaminPDixon
Audio of @MikeBloomberg’s 2015 @AspenInstitute speech where he explains that “you can just Xerox (copy)” the description of male, minorities 16-25 and hand to cops. Bloomberg had video of speech blocked. Perhaps because of the problematic explanation he gives for #StopAndFrisk
This resonates...
If Bloomberg is our nominee, I will support him. He is battery acid for black people & carries himself w/the haughtiness of a guy who hasn’t made a single sacrifice in five decades The idea that people think money is a qualification for leadership turns my gut. We don’t LEARN
Amen. Back at you @LizRebeAlarcon and crew. #OrlandoReunion
What gets me by in Trump’s America? Remembering that there are so many people (many pictured here) doing the work in #Florida to elevate #Latinos and increase our political power💥💪🏾 cc: @PatrickHidalgo @latinaglasses @RodriguezMaria @Vilar2020 @Melissa_In_DC

It is hard to do the right thing - and even to keep sight of what the right thing is — when your system, group, and career incentives push you towards doing the wrong thing. Mitt Romney - and Justin Amash - deserve a lot of respect for doing the right thing when it was hard.
