ALT The Miami-Dade Democratic Party condemns today’s extremist Supreme Court decision to end affirmative action in university admissions. This decision, which puts new limits on educational opportunity for Black and Hispanic students, will have a direct negative impact on young people in Miami-Dade County. As Miami-Dade’s own Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote in her remarkable dissent, “No one benefits from ignorance. Although formal race-linked legal barriers are gone, race still matters to the lived experiences of all Americans in innumerable ways, and today’s ruling makes things worse, not better.” "Generations of minorities fought, shed blood and died for the simple right to a better life for their children through education. Today’s Supreme Court ruling erases all of that. Today is a sad day for America. Elections matter and our fight continues,” said Chairman Robert Dempster.
