Proud to have served in the BBC for 45 of its 100 years. Whatever its faults it remains one of the cornerstones of freedom and fair play in an increasingly mad World!

Regional News has bigger audience than the national bulletins and is trusted by the public, and a lot of the credit goes to Bob Warman and his colleagues on both channels, TV bosses should take note and back BBC and ITV News in the Midlands

Jack Dromey was an old-fashioned, honourable presence at the Commons despatch box, serious and calm and never one for cheap shots. A figure to respect.

A huge shock to hear of the death of Jack Dromey. We have few enough conviction politicians as it is. Now we have lost one of the most valued friends of our BBC Midlands Sunday morning programmes. Jack will be much-missed in Parliament, Erdington and beyond…

Warwickshire played the perfect game with bat and ball today to be crowned County Champions. A performance which will live long in the memories of those of us who witnessed it.

Great to see @jonwalket121 on the BBC News paper review. Getting the message across that ‘the regions’ aren’t just about the North.

Phil, we're really rooting for you. Get well soon. P&P
Bit of a relapse. They brought me into hospital and gave me oxygen. Stabilised now. Hopefully home later
James Robbins and I were contemporaries and good friends way back in BBC N Ireland. Unlike him, I yielded to the pressure to join Twitter. But like him I am also newly-retired. If he’ll accept a message the dark side of social media, please tell him life after BBC holds no fear!
My friend & fellow Diplomatic Correspondent, James Robbins, is leaving today after more than 40 years at the BBC. One of greats of his generation. Wise, urbane, kind, a beautiful writer & voice of integrity & trust for colleagues & audience alike. He never joined Twitter.

@PatrickBurnsBBC Loved the piece on Q gate tonight Patrick. I was standing next to you as a young reporter for Beacon Radio. Colin from BRMB was with us. Like you, I have now retired. Those were the days old boy...

I've been overwhelmed by kind, generous, messages on the news of my forthcoming retirement: far too many for me to answer individually! But please know how deeply grateful I am for all your good wishes.

After a 45-year BBC career I've finally decided to hang-up my microphone. Before I retire, my final series of 4 special reports begin tonight with the links between the Handsworth Riots, the Windrush Scandal and Black Lives Matter. @bbcmtd with @maryrhodestv at 6.30 on BBC One

Britain's biggest local authority could be "driven into bankruptcy" without extra government support during the Covid emergency. @BrumLeader Ian Ward predicts Birmingham City Council will have a deficit of £212 m by the end of next year. I'll explain why in @bbcmtd at 6.30.
