On 12 October 2026, a delegation from Kenya Space Agency (KSA) led by the Director General, Maj Gen Hillary Kipkosgey, made an industrial tour of space industry and infrastructure facilities in Shangdon Province, China. During the tour, the delegation visited STAR.VISION's Ground Station, Data Center and Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) facilities to familiarize themselves with the facilities' satellite system manufacturing processes.
They also toured the Orienspace rocket factory, where they were taken through the rocket assembly processes. The team later toured Haiyang Oriental's land-based, maritime and ship-based spaceport platforms. The tour enabled the KSA team to appreciate satellite manufacturing, data operations and the interconnectedness of the satellite and rocket manufacturing ecosystems.

The Nairobi 2029 @WorldAthletics Championships will be the most consequential athletics event ever staged on African soil, marking a historic moment for Kenya and the continent.
Today, I hosted a delegation from @athletics_kenya led by President Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Jackson Tuwei for extensive discussions on the preparations and modalities of hosting this monumental global sporting event.
Early and sustained engagement with key stakeholders is critical to delivering a championship of this magnitude.
Our engagement focused on the key pillars and priority area of delivery, including stakeholder coordination, logistical planning, venue readiness and the establishment of clear frameworks to guide preparations.
With the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, already undergoing major renovations ahead of AFCON 2027, the Government will work closely with Athletics Kenya and World Athletics officials to inspect the facility and identify any additional requirements that can be incorporated into the ongoing works.
This will ensure that once completed, Kasarani is fully positioned to meet the standards required for the 2029 World Athletics Championships.
The AK and WA teams will also support inspections and provide technical recommendations on Nyayo National Stadium and Ulinzi Sports Complex, which have been earmarked as training facilities for the championships.
Kenya has the experience, infrastructure, talent and institutional capacity to deliver this historic event successfully.
The Government will continue working closely with Athletics Kenya, World Athletics and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that Nairobi 2029 is meticulously planned and delivers a truly world-class championship worthy of Kenya’s sporting heritage and Africa’s historic moment.

👉Climate change and air pollution cross borders, making shared data, technology and regional capacity essential for effective action across Eastern Africa.
🗒️Last week, RCMRD joined regional stakeholders in Kigali, Rwanda, for a workshop on Exploring the Application of Earth Observation for Climate and Air Quality Monitoring in Eastern Africa .
👉RCMRD shared its experience in Kenya and Ethiopia on its application of Earth Observation to strengthen air-quality monitoring through urban pollution-source assessments, low-cost sensor data integration, pollution hotspot mapping and development of environmental geospatial datasets to support evidence-based planning and identify priority areas for intervention

Pleased to officiate a Regional Meeting on Genetics and Biotechnology under the timely theme, “Strengthening Seed Science through Nuclear and Biotechnology.” Brought in representatives from 34 @IAEATC @IAEANA @AFRAAfrica member states and experts @AbdouSalamNiath #Poja 🇰🇪 #Nairobi
My remarks focus on looking at entire value chain - from farm to fork. Every agricultural transformation begins with a seed. A good seed carries within it higher productivity, resilience to drought, resistance to disease, improved nutrition and ultimately higher incomes for farmers. But seed science today must go far beyond traditional breeding. The new frontier combines mutation breeding, genomics, molecular markers, tissue culture, gene editing, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, high-throughput phenotyping, digital agriculture, satellite observation and big-data analytics. Africa has talent, biodiversity and farmers willing to innovate. What we have often lacked is scale, coordination, continuity of investment and sufficiently strong bridges between the laboratory, industry and the farmer. This regional programme under #Atoms4Food and the meeting provides us with an opportunity to strengthen those bridges. Building human and infrastructure capacity under public-private partnerships is equally critical. After must address the issue of food safety security and sovereignty. And it all begins with a good quality seed. @nacosti @sri_kenya @knrakenya @_AfricanUnion @AASciences @KenyaNewsAgency @Kenyans @FAOKenya @IITA_CGIAR @ILRI @TheLandAlliance @kenyaseedltd @PU_Kilifi @JamesJkahindi

Honored to officiate the opening of @AFRAAfrica @IAEATC regional meeting on Climate, Land Use, Energy and Water Systems (CLEWS) in Nairobi 🇰🇪 , with my colleague PS @AlexKWachira I emphasised the need for Africa to move away from siloed approaches and embrace integrated solutions to our interconnected development challenges.
Climate change, food insecurity, water scarcity, energy transition and rapid urbanisation are deeply interconnected. Addressing them requires stronger collaboration, innovation and evidence-based planning.
Africa must also leapfrog in emerging technologies, including the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology. From energy planning and climate-smart agriculture to food security, biotechnology, mutation breeding and isotope hydrology, these technologies present significant opportunities for our continent.
With Africa’s population projected to approach 2.5 billion by 2050, we must accelerate research and innovation to ensure food, water and energy security while building climate-resilient economies.
Through regional cooperation and initiatives supported by the IAEA, including #Atoms4Food #Atoms4NetZero @IAEANA we can share expertise, strengthen institutions and develop solutions that respond to Africa’s unique challenges.
The future we want for Africa will be built through partnership, science, innovation and our collective determination to leapfrog. @nacosti @nuclearkenya @knrakenya @nrfkenya @WinAfrica00 @IAEANE @AASciences
