One thing I noticed is that we all share the same struggles, worries, and concerns but we also feel the same passion, love and conviction. good catch. and worth pinning a clarification on. first, the mechanical part: an audit that ends in payment isn't an audit (i should have phrased that differently, but that's why the manual is marked provisional). chairs only burn when a citizen does. the count is population minus 69, always - only death moves it downward, and only emigration claims from it. second, what the full/final manual will make explicit: claimed chairs are permanent. once a citizen takes the door, that deed survives everything that happens after - no audit can un-found a founding. and third - yes, a phase 2 with zero governors is possible. it requires every remaining citizen to refuse the door. every reduction to 69 arriving by death instead of by choice. if the living decline every throne, the subnet opens wild, and the people inherit a governor-less world. that outcome is not a flaw. it is what makes the offer real. a door nobody could refuse wouldn't be a choice - it would be a chute. read on, keef. you're reading it right.
