You can do this but only if you work remote – at San Francisco, CA
No, you cannot walk 10,000 steps daily, get 8 hours of sleep, cook every night, clean every day, take care of a family, make time for your own hobbies, and still be productive at work every day. This is not just propaganda, it is nonsense. Free yourself from it.

I understand Carrie (2026) is not very good, that's not surprising to me. But I won't stand for Carrie (2013) revisionism. It was a bad remake too! It was widely panned! Most movies in the early 2010s were bad! – at Inwood, NY

Spent a few weeks earlier this year roaming a Hollywood almost entirely reoriented around the production of “microdramas,” which are kind of like soap operas except they’re short and completely demented and optimized for your phone. Started as one kind of sad story and ended as another, differently sad kind of story. You can read it now in @NYTmag nytimes.com/2026/10/06/magaz…

I was so surprised to hear someone say after THOC that the "bit" about the guy in the band and his recently deceased girlfriend went on too long. What bit! I was crying! – at Manhattan, NY
when people find John Wilson mean spirited, I feel like the call is coming from inside the house. you can laugh at the absurdity of humans without automatically looking down on them

It sometimes feels like this is already how people talk
in one possible future, "cuck" loses its, uh, vulgar meaning and evolves into a synonym for "bedside". you'll have a cuck table with a cuck lamp and a cuck clock on it. maybe get a glass of cuck water that you forget to drink before going to sleep and now it's tepid.

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

I really liked Obsession and think some critics overestimate the number of people who came away seeing Bear as the good guy. That said the visual language of the film does fix the viewer in Bear's perspective, and horror in general tends to linger on mutilated women's bodies. – at Brooklyn, NY
this tweet reminds me of the time i saw someone say they were watching the sopranos and someone replied “isn’t that show super misogynistic and racist” like oh didn’t realize you thought the mobsters were supposed to be the good guys

This doesn't negate the obvious message of the film but it does kind of complicate it. The horror as a viewer comes from seeing Nikki from Bear's perspective, it's a cautionary tale for men, there's going to be a little bit of misogyny baked in to that. Art has inherent ambiguity – at Brooklyn, NY

Some men are obsessed with a narrative that women turn normal sexual encounters into SA in their minds due to regret. In reality all trauma is only understood retrospectively. Something new and terrible happens to you and it affects your world before you have language for it – at Jersey City, NJ
It’s crazy bc for years you’ll be like “ohhh no that was just a bad hookup when I was 19” and then it finally clicks years later and then you move on but every few years something Happens and you witness tons more women grapple with the same realization and it never ends

This is leaving my target audience lmao. I don't use this kind of phrasing to talk to stupid people. Just pretend to have a little exposure to psychoanalysis before you get all offended

Have seen the trailer for this movie in theatres a few times and a major plot point is that a character is apparently motivated to make a service that can track anyone because of her cheating ex. Just noticing! youtube.com/watch?v=ORxw68y3…

Was riding to my grandfather's funeral with my cousin and I know she likes country music so I brought up I hadn't ever heard this song and had her play it for me. We started talking and I noticed it had ended. Wondering if it's like mosquito sound and I literally can't hear it

Just played this clip in the QT though, and between this and the other country songs she was playing which were all either about cheating or unrequited love I'm starting to think the cuckoldry obsession is not just among young men lol. What's up with that.

Even if this were true, musicians in the 70s were basically as modern (or postmodern) as modern people, their music remains relatable and sometimes still surprises me how innovative and subversive it feels compared to even very recent music – at Arlington, VA
You know it amazes me that so many people still listen to music from the 70's. I promise you, in the 1970's no one was listening to music from the 1920's.
