Food fraud is one of the oldest and most pervasive forms of global deception and yet, it remains surprisingly difficult to detect and prevent. Traditional supply chains, often reliant on fragmented and paper-based systems, leave far too much room for error. Blockchain changes that.
At the Cardano Foundation, we’ve already seen this in action: most notably through our partnership with Georgia’s wine industry.

Olijfolie is in twee jaar tijd 50% duurder geworden - een ongekende prijsstijging in de supermarkt.
De oorzaak?
Aanhoudende droogte in productielanden heeft de oogsten verwoest, waardoor voorraden zijn opgedroogd.
Interessant genoeg zien olijfboeren niet de vruchten van deze prijsstijging; hun productie daalt terwijl kosten stijgen.
Een tijd terug was het - zoals vele zullen herinneren - zonnebloemolie dat enorme schaarste had.
