I feel you man, the exact same happened to me. They crushed all my hopes of having a show set in the Second Age worthy of Tolkien's work. But here they crossed a line, this totally disgusts me.

The rumor out that they won't a woman to voice Aslan in the Netflix Narina show is like that. I beg the executives to just burn a billion dollars in the parking lot and save the reputations of all those they would ask to work on that monstrosity. Just burn it cook some hot dogs.

I’m sorry, but these people are not fans of Tolkien. I despise the tumblrization of culture more than almost any other current trend. It’s bone cancer
Yep, this show is not for us. It’s for them. The vision Tolkien never had but the amazing Directors and Showrunners with their twisted version of Tolkiens legendarium. 🤮🤢 #RingsOfPowerS2

Christopher Tolkien devoted his life to show “how it evolved” not that it was a “continuous evolution” OF COURSE a story evolves! Do you think any author gets the whole thing right on the first try? Don’t be obtuse. Some aspects of the mythology were never pinned down, like when Galadriel came to Middle Earth and her part in Flight of the Noldor. Other aspects were never in question. To say that “canon doesn’t exist” is absolutely idiotic to the point of willful deceit. Many, MANY aspects of the Legendarium are set in stone. A few are not. Some things are set in stone that we then find Tolkien later toyed with changing(the cosmology), *without changing the canon that Christopher put into The Silmarillion*
Tolkien's legendarium was a constantly evolving mythology. His son devoted his entire life to revealing that truth. It's not "academic speak for [insert bullshit strawman here]"... It's actually just... academic. Which explains why you dont understand it.

At the very end of the Rings of Stupid S2 finale, they show what will more than likely end up becoming Imladris. Gil-galad is there, Elrond, Galadriel, etc. There's also a handful of refugees left from Eregion there as well. Well, Imladris, or Rivendell, was founded in the year S.A. 1697. It was founded after Elrond, having merged his forces with Celeborn's, was pushed north because the armies of Sauron were pushing further into Eriador, and the elves were hard pressed. It was used not only as an outpost but also as a place to take in refugees from Eregion and the rest of Eriador as Sauron continued his brutal advance towards Lindon. Later in the war, Imladris was besieged, and that siege wasn't broken until the Numenoreans showed up around the year S.A. 1700, and joining forces with the Noldor, both the men and elves were able to push Sauron out of Eriador, ultimately defeating him at the Battle of the Gwathló. This is canon by the way @tolkienprof Just one more thing this stupid show got wrong. Oh, one last thing: Galadriel wasn't anywhere near any of these events. She had already traveled eaat through Khazad-dum with her daughter long before the war even started. Art of Rivendell by SaMo-art

Ahh yes the logic here is unfathomable. "Tolkien kept changing his mind about stuff so nothing is canon"... So instead of using any of his versions you decided to make-up stuff and also contradict several of his ideas? 🙄 Also the quote by Gandalf is said by Faramir to Frodo, but by 'East' (yes capitalized) he meant Rhûn (meaning 'East') not Mordor... The whole line is talking about West, North and South, so why would the East suddenly not actually be about the East. Grasping for straws as usual.

This must suggest there is some sort of canon attached to Lord of the Rings

Matt: “What kind of things would you look for in a story to interest you in coming back to Middle-Earth?” Viggo: “I would like it to feel like a Tolkien story, the look and feel of it, but first of all the way it reads, that it feels connected, consistent with what Tolkien was writing about. His source material, what he was trying to say. I think Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Phillipa Boyens and those that are behind this, they're gonna make sure that it has that feel. The look and feel of everything they did was respectful of Tolkien’s storytelling. It would be that first and foremost.” Source: youtube.com/watch?v=qLaOk2w-…

Should be "Tolkien sellout" instead of "Tolkien professor". By saying that, you're basically saying that you spent years studying literally nothing belonging to Tolkien's and that you have no integrity whatsoever. What a professional useless man.

“No such thing as canon in Tolkien” is academic speak for “I want Tolkien to say whatever the hell I want him to say” And a note scrawled on the back of a napkin does not carry weight the same way a published work does.

"There's really no such thing as canon in Tolkien" If we didn't know already, it's confirmed. The self-proclaimed "Tolkien professor" is an absolute sellout. Did not have such a retarded statement on the list of things I would hear come out of his mouth, but here we are. Holy shit.

I’m not a hate-mongering person to call this out as disgusting. This was unnecessary, shows how disrespectful they handle Tolkien with their *better way of retelling his story. Make your own twisted fanfic please. People trying to defend this are weird, sorry. #ringsofpower
So, the kiss: It served as a goodbye but it was not romantic. It was a chaste kiss and it primarily worked as a distraction so that Elrond would hand her the pin. It's not what some hate-mongering people will try to make it. #TROPspoilers #TheRingsOfPower
