ETHIOPIA — ⚡️ Fear and outrage are spreading across the capital Addis Ababa and other regions as government intensifies forced military conscription.
Young men are being picked up from the streets and taken to military trainings against their will, leaving devastated families to watch their sons disappear into a war they never volunteered to fight.
They know the pattern. Previous waves of conscripts were sent to the country's many battlefields, and many never came home. Now families fear their loved ones are being prepared for the same fate.
Ethiopians are not willing to sacrifice another generation for wars driven by the political ambition of a reckless leader that creates more conflicts than jobs since he accidentally rise to power.

#AddisAbaba belongs to all #Ethiopians.
Thank you , Prof. Berhanu @berhanu2006. You have articulated what is at stake: Under the veneer of so called "national dialogue/Consultation" the gross deception and coercion of an OPP-dominated regime seeking to hoodwink the populace, aggrandize and appropriate all that is #Ethiopian, including #Addis Ababa—a city built through the blood, sweat, and contributions of Ethiopians of every background and ethnicity.
===================
#ETHIOPIA, WAKE UP.
Let us stop pretending that this is merely a consultation.
A process that is intended to address Ethiopia’s challenges is increasingly at risk of becoming a mechanism for generating new ones. Instead of reducing political tensions, the Prosperity Party’s Consultation Commission risks institutionalizing demands that could further destabilize the country.
And we must be honest about what is unfolding.
Certain political actors are attempting to use the language of “consultation” to reframe long-standing territorial and political ambitions as legitimate claims. In doing so, they seek to transform yesterday’s political demands into tomorrow’s constitutional realities.
That is not consultation. That is political engineering.
What is even more concerning is the growing reliance on open threats.
“If you do not give us Addis Ababa, the country will disintegrate.”
“The city will be destroyed.”
Really?
Since when did threats of destruction become a legitimate basis for national consultation? Since when does the threat of national collapse qualify as a valid argument in determining the country’s future?
No serious nation can negotiate its constitutional order under coercion—political or otherwise.
And where is the evidence?
Where is the historical basis?
Where is the legal foundation?
Where is the constitutional justification?
Where is the demonstrable right that would entitle any group to claim Addis Ababa?
Repetition does not establish truth. Raising the volume does not establish legitimacy. And threats of instability do not convert political ambition into historical fact.
We have seen this pattern before.
Political opportunism can create temporary narratives, but it cannot manufacture enduring legitimacy.
And we must also be clear about the implications of this logic.
If political claims can be expanded through pressure, intimidation, and constructed narratives, then why should Addis Ababa be considered the final boundary?
Today it is Addis Ababa.
Tomorrow, what follows?
Once it is accepted that territorial claims can be advanced through coercion rather than evidence, law, and the consent of affected populations, there is no principled limit.
That is why this moment is critical.
This issue extends far beyond a single city.
It concerns whether Ethiopia will be governed by law or by political coercion.
It concerns whether “consultation” represents genuine dialogue—or whether it is being used as a procedural cover for predetermined outcomes.
It concerns whether the Ethiopian people are being asked for their consent—or being presented with decisions already made elsewhere.
We must reject this logic.
No city should be conceded under threat of chaos.
No constitutional principle should be altered under the threat of violence.
No historical claim should be accepted simply because political conditions temporarily favor those asserting it.
And no government should be permitted to use the term “consultation” while laying the groundwork for a potentially destabilizing political settlement.
Addis Ababa must not ignore this moment.
Ethiopia must not ignore this moment.
Demand evidence. Demand legal justification. Demand transparency. Demand genuine consultation.
Because once a political fait accompli becomes constitutional reality, reversing it may prove far more difficult than addressing it now.
Wake up. Speak up. Ask the difficult questions.
The future of Addis Ababa—and the broader political future of Ethiopia—cannot be determined by threats, coercion, or manufactured inevitability.
Ethiopia belongs to its people. Its future must be determined by law, evidence, and genuine consent—not by those who shout the loudest.

⚡️Over 27 regime forces killed as retreating troops execute Orthodox priest and vandalize church in South Gonder (📍Amhara Region, Ethiopia) on August 10th.
🔵 In Estie Woreda, Fano units under the Guna Division (AFNM-BC) engaged regime forces across Sholekt, Tsion Mountain, Fiyel-Chinqlat, Lebet, Yiba River, Modir, Magot Mountain, and Mama Mountain. Despite the regime's use of ZU-23 anti-aircraft guns, DShK heavy machine guns, and mortars, the fighting left 17 regime personnel killed. Fano forces also captured assorted ammunition and other military supplies.
🔴 Following the engagement, regime forces carried out a reprisal attack by extrajudicially executing Priest Melke Enyew in Sholekt Kebele. Melke was a respected EOTC priest with no involvement in the hostilities.
🔵 In Simada Woreda, the Guna Division (AFNM-BC) fought regime forces across Kosh, Aguat-Wiha, Away, Muge, and Sergawit-Lideta, forcing regime troops to withdraw to Wegeda town. The fighting left 10 regime personnel killed, while wounded troops were evacuated by four ambulances to Wegeda Hospital.
🔴 During their withdrawal, regime forces deliberately vandalized Sergawit-Lideta Church, destroying church property in what local sources described as a punitive act following their battlefield losses.

American Ethiopian Public Affairs Committee (AEPAC)
Calls for an Independent Investigation Following Deadly Violence in Southern Ethiopia.
The American Ethiopian Public Affairs Committee (AEPAC) expresses its deep concern over the reported loss of civilian lives during recent protests in southern Ethiopia following the arrests of local officials.
According to the Associated Press, at least 17 people were killed, including children, during demonstrations that followed the weekend arrests of officials in the Wolaita Zone. The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission reported that security forces responded to the protests with force and expressed "deep concern over persistent violence and the use of excessive force" against demonstrators. Local activists have reported that the death toll may be significantly higher, with at least 34 people killed and more than 100 people injured, the vast majority suffering gunshot wounds.
AEPAC extends its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones and to all those who were injured. The protection of innocent civilians is a fundamental responsibility of every government. Peaceful assembly, freedom of expression, and the right of citizens to voice legitimate concerns are fundamental democratic principles that must be respected, while all parties should reject violence and actions that place civilian lives at risk.
AEPAC calls for a prompt, transparent, independent, and impartial investigation into the reported deaths and injuries, with full accountability for any unlawful use of force. Establishing the facts and ensuring accountability are essential to restoring public confidence, upholding the rule of law, and preventing further violence.
We further urge the Government of Ethiopia to exercise maximum restraint, protect the rights and safety of all civilians, and ensure that all security measures are carried out in accordance with Ethiopia's Constitution and its obligations under international human rights law.
As part of its ongoing commitment to informed public policy, AEPAC will continue to actively engage the United States Congress, the U.S. Department of State, and leading Washington-based foreign policy institutions and think tanks—including the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), the Brookings Institution, the Hudson Institute, the Heritage Foundation, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the Center for a New American Security (CNAS)—to help ensure that developments in Ethiopia receive sustained policy attention, objective analysis, and informed discussion.
AEPAC also encourages these institutions, together with international human rights organizations, religious freedom advocates, diplomatic missions, academic institutions, and partner organizations, to continue assessing the evolving political, humanitarian, and human rights situation in Ethiopia. Through independent research, constructive dialogue, and evidence-based policy recommendations, these organizations can make an important contribution to informing U.S. policy and supporting efforts that advance peace, constitutional governance, accountability, religious freedom, the rule of law, and respect for the fundamental rights and dignity of all Ethiopians.
As a nonpartisan public affairs organization, AEPAC remains committed to providing timely, factual, objective, and well-documented information to policymakers and the broader foreign policy community. We will continue working with Congress, executive branch agencies, policy institutes, think tanks, faith-based organisations, human rights advocates, and international partners to promote stronger U.S.–Ethiopia relations and policies that foster lasting peace, stability, democratic governance, and the protection of fundamental human rights.
Given the Horn of Africa's profound strategic importance to regional and global security, international commerce, counter terrorism, maritime security, and geopolitical stability, the international community has both a moral responsibility and a compelling strategic interest in supporting lasting peace and stability in Ethiopia. Beyond the humanitarian imperative, a peaceful, democratic, and stable Ethiopia is essential to the security and prosperity of the broader Horn of Africa and serves the long-term interests of the United States and its international partners.
AEPAC therefore urges the United States Government, the United States Congress, allied nations, regional partners, international organisations, and the broader foreign policy community to remain actively engaged in promoting accountability, encouraging peaceful dialogue, strengthening democratic institutions, protecting fundamental human rights and religious freedom, and advancing the rule of law. Sustained international engagement, principled diplomacy, and support for constitutional governance are indispensable to securing a peaceful future for Ethiopia and contributing to a more secure, stable, and prosperous Horn of Africa.
The American Ethiopian Public Affairs Committee remains committed to serving as a constructive, nonpartisan voice that advances informed public policy, strengthens U.S.–Ethiopia relations, and advocates for democracy, human rights, religious freedom, constitutional governance, and lasting peace for all the people of Ethiopia.

⚡️TPLF forces abduct at least nine civilians in Raya-Bala Woreda (📍North Wollo Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia).
🔴 On July 30th, TPLF forces abducted more than nine civilians from Bala town after they refused to pay financial contributions of up to 12,000 ETB in support of renewed military mobilization under "Operation Mekit."
🔴 Those abducted include Berihun Admasie, Berihun Abebe, Tadesse Tiku, Priest Redaei (keeper of Selassie Church), Shibesh Worku, Endeshaw Marew, Getu Kassa, Kassa Zinabe Ayenew, and Muleta Biargo.
🔴 The abductions occurred amid a telecommunications blackout that has disrupted communications throughout Raya-Bala Woreda and heightened concerns among residents and displaced families.
🔴 The communications blackout has left displaced residents in Kobo City and neighboring areas unable to contact relatives or obtain information about the security situation and the well-being of family members remaining in the woreda.

Same day TPLF provoked Ethiopian National Defense Force, EPLF military and security forces crossed international border into Tigray, Ethiopia, bringing this marriage of convenience into the open.
Eritrea’s minister of dis-information has spent considerable effort covering up and denying past engagements. The timeline has clearly moved up, forcing backroom conspiracy among TPLF and EPLF into the public eye.
No doubt @hawelti will deny it, but everyone knows the octogenarians in uniform are Eritreans face of indefinite conscription.
TPLF, whatever remains of it, continues to make one strategic blunder after another. federal government’s risk-averse, carefully timed strategy appears leaving #TPLF on a self-destructive path and taking #EPLF down with it.
