A pandora box may open after the publication of final figures on #Census_2027 and #Special_Intensive_Revision.Rate of population growth, Covid-19 death, sanctity of Voter list, Census 2011 and 2027 will be much in discussion.
Former CEC S.Y. Quraishi says India's 1.45 billion population may have slipped to 1.2 billion due to SIR. It may go all the way down to 1 billion when it all ends.
EC has found a new solution for India's population problem. @IndianExpress @DrSYQuraishi
Add to this: Neither any Chief Justice of a state/UT or Director General of Police in a state/UT.
The community is out of sight in public life from legislation to governance, executive to judiciary.
And recall occassion(s) when Minority Minster speaks for minority?

Reality is quite different from hating somone.
Medical course in Hindi was launched in Oct 2022 in total haste.Without proper terminology/ translation, faculty/dept,it was bound to fail.
Keep academics & political rhetoric seperate. Today @htTweets published reality-check.
Nobody knows fate of other languague course & pupils.
Even Hindi speakers can't stand Hindi imposition by language-challenged thugs in airtight leggings
In Madhya Bharat, 85 students chose Hindi out of the 1,000 who enrolled at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal
65 of those 85 have switched to English. @htTweets @shruti26tomar
Not an unusual transfer? Nearly 18-20 Chief Electoral Officers of states and Union Territories transferred between 2025 and 2026.The period even not witnessed a Lok Sabha election says @anubhutivishnoi .

People are very brutal; they tolerate thousands of lies from @realDonaldTrump every month, but they won't tolerate a single one from his press secretary.

Whenever the history of SIR is written, the works of @sabirahamedgd and @SabarInstitute_ will be documented.
Salute to Sabir Bhai for his courage and hard work.
West Bengal’s SIR is no ordinary chapter in the larger SIR controversy. The nature of voter deletions and their glaringly disproportionate impact along religious and gender lines make Bengal a case that demands urgent and special scrutiny.
Yesterday, Sabar Institute’s Sabir Ahamed brought Bengal’s case before the Independent Commission on SIR, organised by LAFC in New Delhi.
Bengal’s story must not go unheard.

What a coincidence that politics and religion are on the same level in a sovereign, democratic, socialist and secular republic.
BTW, @grok who is organiser of this Ramlila effigy burning?
STORY | Delhi Ramlila to burn 30-foot 'cockroach' effigy alongside Ravan
A 30-foot-tall "cockroach" effigy will go up in flames alongside those of Ravan, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad at a Ramlila in the national capital this year.

There is no need to point out how many times @realDonaldTrump speaks lies or half truth or disinformation outright as @wapo did in his first term. @WSJ just note how many times Trump speaks truth.

Protest is not a celebration; it is an assertion of lost rights. Therefore, this demand must be made right at the heart of the republic. #JantarMantar

One of the rare day for English press coming out in support of Indian democracy. Any idea about languages papers stand?

There are many issues facing the nation. One of the most tangible issue is #SIR, which resulted in loss of voting rights of over 130 million people, has galvanised the public, the @INCIndia & other political parties. When vote is stolen, street is the answer.
I’d like to thank every single person who came out today for this protest. I'd also like to thank the millions of people who showed support in their own way at 3pm. Thank you to the leaders of INDIA bloc, all the workers of the Congress party and workers of the INDIA bloc.
Today was a very important day because we needed to show the government that the people of India are not going to be intimidated. You cannot beat us, threaten us, frighten us. We will not accept being bullied.
I was wondering where the cowards of the RSS who were beating the young children day before yesterday were. Where were those people? Because I didn’t see them.
When we are standing there and when the people of India are standing there, why don’t you come out? Why don’t you wear your little scarves and come out and see what happens?
Because you’re essentially, like the Prime Minister of India, bullies. You cannot stand up. You can only use power to fight.
So, it’s very heartening to see what happened. I’m proud of everybody. Everybody worked like a team.
As I said in my press conference, there are no parallel protests. It’s one protest, and it’s a protest where everybody is standing together. Every single person is going to stand against these killers of our Constitution, these killers of our democracy. And we’re not going to back down.
I’d also like to thank everybody from civil society organisations who came, supported us. We value your support, and we love all of you.
Thank you all for coming out and defending the idea of India, the idea of the Constitution, the idea of our democracy.
I’m extremely proud of every single person who came out on the streets. Thank you.

Rahul Gandhi: "There are no parallel protests. We are ONE. We have one goal: first, Gyanesh must resign, then Modi must go. We support each and every protest and we will give every kind of help to those who are working on it."
In the end, he again said: "All protests are ONE protest."

A heartfelt message by a parent, K Sharad Haksar to Neha Bora.
“When I got married, I knew I wanted only one child. And in my heart, I hoped it would be a girl.
I was blessed with a daughter.
The first time I held her, I made her a silent promise. You will never have to share my time. You will never have to wait for my attention. Whatever I have, you will get all of it.
I had seen families with four or five children. Parents running from morning to night, and still some child was always left waiting. I also felt our country has too many people, and nature is paying for it. One child felt right. It felt responsible.
For years, I never questioned it.
Then this year, I saw Neha Bora.
She is 29, a PhD student at JNU, a theatre artist from Khatima, a small town in the hills of Uttarakhand. When the NEET paper leak happened, she sat down at Jantar Mantar for students she did not even know. Children who had studied for years. Parents who had spent their savings on coaching and still lost.
She did not eat for 23 days.
She was 66 kilos when she started. She lost more than 7. Near the end, doctors were taking her blood three or four times a day.
The night I read that, I could not sleep. I kept seeing my own daughter in her place. On a hot Delhi road. Thin. Tired. A doctor holding her wrist again. And I knew I would not be able to stand there and watch. I would have begged her to stop.
But Neha did not stop until the work was done. And when it was over, she said her body had forgotten how to eat. It had to learn again, like a baby. Even then, still weak, she went to Bihar to meet more than 600 students who had been arrested. She did not go home to rest. She went to the ones who had stood by her.
I am a dowser. Every day I work with energy. I have learned that anger is heavy. It burns out fast. Nobody can live on anger for 23 days without food. Only love can carry you that far.
Then I read that her father was in the Army, and the family kept moving from one posting to the next.
My wife's father was also in the Army. I never call him my father-in-law. To me, he is simply Papa. My wife studied in 13 schools. Thirteen first days. Thirteen times walking into a class where nobody knew her name. Thirteen goodbyes to friends she never saw again. Army children learn to smile, pack their bags and start again. Nobody asks them how much it hurts. I see that strength in my wife every day. I saw it in Neha too.
In Ranchi, a man threw ink on her face and called her anti-national. She said she had already faced pellets and lathis in Delhi. Ink would not scare her.
Ink washes off. In energy work, we say that what people throw at you only stays if you take it in. She seems to know this without ever holding a pendulum.
Her family did not agree with her. There were fights at home. But during the hunger strike, her mother came to Jantar Mantar.
I don't know what they said to each other. I don't need to. I am a parent. I know what a mother feels when she sees her child weak and thin on a road, and still standing. Every argument is forgotten in that moment. All that is left is: this is my child.
Neha said she has not spoken to her father yet.
I don't know him. But I am a father too, and I know how hard it is for men like us to say some things out loud. So if he cannot say it yet, let me say it for him, from Chennai.
Beta, we are proud of you. Now go and eat something properly.
Somewhere in all this, a thought came to me that I never expected. I wish I had one more daughter. One like Neha. This takes nothing away from my own daughter. She is my world. She always will be. But Neha made me ask myself a hard question. We spend our whole lives keeping our children safe and helping them get ahead. Do we ever teach them to look back at who is being left behind? And if one day they stand up for someone else, will we stand next to them as Neha's mother did? Or will we ask them to come home and stay quiet. Our job is to protect that light, even when it scares us.
It is good to see @ChouhanShivraj heart bleeds for people of his constitueny. It would be good, India becomes his constituency.Lakhs of people suffering from demolition and eviction every month will be stopped.
Really? Will it be applied to every community?
#WATCH | Sehore, Madhya Pradesh | Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan says, "My constituency has witnessed the height of oppression and the extreme limit of injustice. Homes that were thriving until this morning—where the joyful sounds of children once echoed—are now filled with their screams. Women are weeping and beating their chests in anguish. Their homes have been demolished; their crops buried under the rubble; the fruits of their hard labor crushed; and their wells filled in. These were homes that had stood for years, yet today, these people have been left destitute and displaced. Those responsible are utterly heartless and devoid of all empathy...This is an extreme act of injustice, and even God will not forgive the perpetrators. However, we will make every possible effort to secure justice for the affected families. I will present the entire situation to the Chief Minister as well...Strict action must be taken against the Forest Department officials who carried out this destruction—action severe enough to ensure that no monster in human form ever dares to commit such an atrocity or injustice again"
Is @PressCouncil_IN exists?
Is it live to promote Govt initiatives or journalists cause?
Where is @IndEditorsGuild?
Is there any TV watchdog?
Why there is discrimination against small news outfits/Youtubers?
Despite huge press in India, hardly any press watchdog.

Journalism takes away many things from a true journalists who lives for the story. Otherwise by making 'deal' one may earns lakhs.
The other day, I was talking to a fellow journalist about how journalists are mad people. We don't care about things like money, or fashion, or even clearly defined work hours. All we care about is the next event, the news cycle, what's breaking, what's new on our beats, what we can cover and who we can quote.
We're the kind of people who will forget to eat, sleep at odd hours chasing a story, and get impossibly excited over a document, a phone call while emotionally exhausted, perpetually anxious about the next day's paper, and still feel a rush when a story comes together!
We're too emotional when it's about our stories. And we are passionate. We take things personally. We carry the stories we report long after they've been filed. We get angry at injustice. We feel heartbroken by the people we meet, and the things we see.
And despite everything this profession takes from us, there's still nowhere else we'd rather be.
Maybe that's what makes us mad. The inability to look away. The compulsion to ask one more question, make one more call, knock on one more door.
