The 4-hour hearing over the Trump Admin’s disgusting behavior at East Potomac Park this weekend just ended. One word to describe the hearing: incredulous. Reyes was livid over the Trump Admins deceitful behavior. And the idea that there is further deceit going on was palpable. Our read of the hearing was that it focused on two key elements. The first was the timeline of the Cultural Landscape Review (CLR) cuttings and the second was tying the CLR to the broader planned Washington National Plan (WNP). Timeline: the judge demanded to know who knew what and when. Could not believe that a project of this scale was completed over the course of ~5 days (October 5-October 10). And the scale is breathtaking - all the way up to the acting Director of the National Park Service, Jessica Bowron. CLR with the WNP: anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that these two are connected. To pretend that a project that has sat on the shelf for 7 years just came into play is unbelievable. The key thing was tying the CLR to the WNP. And turns out that Frank Lands, the Deputy Director for Operations at the U.S. National Park Service, was given an express directive by Greg Wischer, the Deputy Chief of Staff at DOI, to use the CLR to begin tree removal at East Potomac “as soon as possible.” Wischer reports to Burgum at DOI. Just unbelievable, illegal, fraudulent behavior from all these despicable characters involved. I will say it again, when this admin wonders what their legacy will be and why everyone hates them, it will be because of underhand and nefarious dealing like this. A mob of thugs and goons who don’t think the rules apply to them.
