Yesterday, three students and a teacher were killed in a school shooting in Oregon. In most countries, that would dominate national headlines for days. In America, it barely interrupts the news cycle. The loss of life is heartbreaking. The ease with which we absorb it is a tragedy all its own.

My heart is completely broken for the children, families, teachers, and entire Silver Rail Elementary community in Bend, Oregon today.
Elementary school should be about jungle gyms, math class, and making new friends—not learning where to hide from a shooter. We cannot keep asking our children to be brave enough to survive school shootings. Our leaders must be brave enough to stop them.

A $330,000,000 ballroom funded by hidden bank accounts, shell companies, and anonymous corporate donors is an open bribery scheme.
If you want to know which seats will determine control of the U.S. House, look at where the mega-donors are spending.
Outside groups have flooded @JaredEMoskowitz's race with over $15.6 million—with more than $10.7 million spent just attacking Jared.
We can't let MAGA super PACs buy this seat. I just chipped in. Join me if you can:

We can all feel the economic pain of Trump's war, but the true cost is being hidden. How many service members have we lost? What is the real damage to our bases? Where are our tax dollars going? It is essential that we elect a new Congress that is willing to uncover the full scope of the fallout. It is almost certainly worse than we think.
Ukraine is taking on the machinery of foreign disinformation directly at the source. President Zelenskyy deserves our full, unwavering support for doing it.
When we started responding to Russia’s operation against our data centers, and when our strikes reached Yandex’s data centers, it suddenly became a little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. A lot of people noticed it. There was less hate, less division, and fewer provocations.
Because there were fewer bots. And it’s pretty clear where those bots were coming from – if they disappeared when Yandex went offline. This proves, again and again, that Europe is not the source of the problems. Europe is not the one making everything more difficult.
Most importantly, we need people in America, every morning, when the day in Europe is already moving toward evening, to really see what is happening. To see the truth.

Putin’s illegal, unprovoked, full-scale invasion of Ukraine has killed countless civilians and devastated an entire nation. Buying Russian diesel while Russia continues its war sends exactly the wrong message. The United States should be isolating the Kremlin, not helping finance its aggression.
Blaming Zelenskyy for U.S. diesel prices is the political equivalent of burning dinner and then deciding the smoke detector is the problem.
ICE has created an environment where red flags are ignored, violence is normalized, accountability is optional, and the outcomes are entirely predictable. What happened in New York isn’t a one‑off tragedy. It’s a system functioning exactly as designed.
In 1943, Woody Guthrie warned that democracy depends on our ability to understand one another, not retreat into division, cynicism, and manipulation. In his excellent new NYT essay, @JeffTweedy shows just how prescient Guthrie's warning was and why it still speaks directly to our moment. It’s a really good read for anyone thinking about culture, democracy, community, or where America is headed.
