Reminder that the ONLY way to reduce traffic is for people to drive less. Electric and self-driving cars won't reduce traffic. Widening highways won't reduce traffic. Removing bike lanes won't reduce traffic. Allowing people to drive fast won't reduce traffic.

PSA : You can still be contagious and spread illnesses and virus before you test positive for it. This is why people like me keep pushing for masking because you cannot undo the days you have been around people maskless prior to testing positive.

DO NOT FEED WILDLIFE. IF YOU’RE GOING TO SHARE A DONUT - AT LEAST ASK US IF WE WANT IT FIRST. BECAUSE WE DO. WE LOVE DONUTS. DO NOT GIVE IT TO WILDLIFE - IT IS BAD FOR THEM - AND IT ALSO MEANS LESS DONUTS FOR US. MAKE BETTER CHOICES.

I often see a woman in the park picking dandelions. I found out today she picks them for her 32 yo tortoise, Stanley, that her late husband bought her as a 17th wedding anniversary gift (the traditional gift for 17 yrs is shells) as she’d wanted a tortoise since she was a child.

“We are completely under-investigating Covid,” said Douglas C. Wallace, a University of Pennsylvania geneticist and evolutionary biologist. “The effects of repeatedly getting this throughout our lives is going to be much more significant than people are thinking.” 🚨YEAH. AND OVER-CATCHING IT.🚨

Oh fuck off. Let people read a book wherever they like.
A “watering hole” is not typically the place where people go to read books. A cafe, yes.

In case you need a refresher on elimination, eradication, and endemicity👇🏼
Everyone keeps talking about covid becoming endemic, but as I listen to the conversation, it’s becoming more & more clear to me that very few of you know what “endemic” means. So here’s a thread on how pandemics end.

No matter how ancient or modern a disease is, the only way to actually end it is to eradicate it, and eradication starts with local elimination. Congratulations to Bangladesh on official elimination of visceral leishmaniasis. May this first step encourage others to follow.
Bangladesh is the first country to officially eliminate the deadly parasite visceral leishmaniasis. Now the focus is on effective surveillance to sustain these hard-won gains: bit.ly/3V1C5BR
