1. Industrial action stopped the destruction of the USS pension.
2. Lowering salaries still further impacts on our competitiveness.
3. As do cuts in pensions.
4. The political direction of travel means relaxation of visas is very unlikely.

Did you write your MP about the crisis in HE? We wrote a briefing for Newcastle Members, but it could easily be used by other branches / members too!

It's great to see this initiative from @LondonUCU.
A new Government means our existing campaigns need to be refocused. But its right to say there are new threats on the horizon too.
We will discuss this at our next Organising Meeting:

Solidarity. Congress clearly wanted this settled and was sympathetic to UNITE’s demands. And to allow recall HE sector Congress lost to a Unite strike day. Failure to resolve the dispute leaves a big gap in policy-making and accountability.
During ACAS talks today, attended by UCU's General Secretary & President, yet again no tangible offer was made that could move us to ending our dispute. Of much greater concern is a risk of escalation after the employer suggested pausing our recognition agreement.

Solidarity from Newcastle. Very similar here. We need to have our students’ backs.
Today this UCU branch has issued a joint statement with @BhamUniUnison in response to yesterday morning’s ‘Message from the VC’ issued to UoB Staff.
This Branch supports the right of any Student to protest peacefully.

Huge thanks to all #UCU2024 Congress delegates, branches, members, & countless others who’ve sent messages of solidarity & support for our dispute & strike action yesterday. It means so much.❤️We really hope our employer now respects the will of UCU & Unite members. #ReclaimUCU
Solidarity BMSC colleagues. Congress must discuss this and take serious action. This is a battle for the very soul of the union. There are two traditions within trade unionism and we should stand with a member-led anti-racism. Remember Grunwicks, remember Cable St.
