A very sad day for the Department of Chemistry as we mourn the death of Professor Dwight Seferos. Gone way too young.

Very sad news indeed. Marcel graduated from our department with a PhD and build a strong program at my alma mater.

Not sure how many chemists are still monitoring this social media service, but a colleague asked me if anyone can identify this glassblowing tool. Happy to hear thoughts.

Tell me you’re in Switzerland without saying so? Watching a dad push a baby carriage with one hand, with skis in the back of the carriage, while dragging his gear in the free hand. Wishing for a peaceful 2026. We could all use it.

Can’t think of a better way to get the wine ready for the Christmas Eve toast. Hotel Hermitage Cervinia @RelaisChateaux takes no chances.

It has been my pleasure to know Paul for at least 32 years and his enthusiasm and passion have never wavered. It was a treat to be on the @thiemechemistry board together and travel the world at our annual board meetings.
... thanks @MarkLautens, Martin Oestreich @Silicon_Martin, Lutz Ackermann (@aztul) and all the @thiemechemistry editors for this wonderful adventure ! Link to the special issue dedicated to Paul Knochel, the “Zn-ing Mg-ician”: thieme-connect.de/products/e…. Happy 70th Birthday.🎂🎂👏

A foggy, rainy, and cold day means a hearty powerful wine. Brunello 2015 San Giacomo hits the spot. The perfect end to a busy week of lectures including Nobel Laureate Akiro Yoshino, Tim Noel and David Nagib. Not a bad seminar program for a school north of the 49th parallel 😉

Dueling Pinot Noir tasting on a cold and wet Friday night at the farm. In the corner on my left, a Bourgogne Rouge from Chaney-Chouet 2018 A bit of age. On the right, Canadian contender Blue Mountain Reserve Cuvée 2022. One of our favourite BC Pinot’s.
