ALT JCS Cover: Posterior nucleus positioning in Ciona notochord cells. Co-expression of hCD4–eGFP (green, cell boundary) and Nup50–mCherry (pink, nuclei) in notochord cells in Ciona embryos. The cells and the nuclei are 3D reconstructed and highlighted by Imaris software. See article by H. Peng et al. (jcs264699). Special Issue on Cell Biology of the Nucleus Guest Editor: Abby Buchwalter

How does a cell remodel the ER membrane into a lipid droplet?
Excited to share our new preprint. We find that regulated opening of the seipin ring defines a functional ER–lipid droplet interface — and identify SMLR1 as a regulator of this transition.

🚨 New paper out in @NatMetabolism! Chapter 2 of our mitochondria zonation story (following our 2024 Nature Communications work). We asked how zonated liver mitochondria adapt when lipid flux surges. 🧵👇

I'm delighted to present TWO new preprints from my lab, led by @MC_Zanellati and @ChihHsuanHsu1, about how #organelles remodel throughout #NeuronalDifferentiation. Check out the tweetorials about their papers below:
Cells come in many shapes and sizes, with diverse physiological functions. But how do #organelles and their interaction networks remodel during #differentiation of stem cells into different cell types? Here’s what we discovered about neuronal differentiation: 1/13

Very happy to see my corresponding author paper out in MBoC (@ASCBiology). Here we explore the organisation of the yeast seipin complex across lipid droplet formation and find interesting aspects of protein recruitment and wiring to nutrient availability.
