#lipidtime: It's a lipid universe. Today in Nature we publish the Lipid Brain Atlas, the first map of membrane lipid composition across the entire mouse brain, a layer of organisation that cell-type and transcript maps had left out. #lipidomics #neuroscience #BrainAtlas

Two decades after revealing the mechanism of action of auxin, we have now uncovered the molecular mystery of another plant hormone: salicylic acid (SA), the precursor of aspirin that most of us have taken at some point in our lives. We were surprised again rdcu.be/EbdVwEStSHha

Why is glutathione, rather than cysteine, the major cellular thiol? Our new work by @ToshiNakamura51 suggests unlike other amino acids, excess cysteine is intrinsically toxic to mammalian cells via mitochondrial iron accumulation. @RockefellerUniv nature.com/articles/s42255-0…

Excited to share our latest preprint led by Taylor Nuttall, in collaboration with @GileadSciences ! We identify a stereoselective covalent small molecule targeting the “undruggable” ovarian cancer transcription factor PAX8. KL6-159A covalently engages PAX8 C57, destabilizes PAX8, and suppresses its oncogenic transcriptional program, with FOXM1 emerging as the most strongly suppressed regulatory network. Another example of how reactive amino acid hotspots can provide unexpected footholds for directly drugging historically intractable transcription factors. biorxiv.org/content/10.64898… #Chemoproteomics #ChemicalBiology #DrugDiscovery #PAX8 #OvarianCancer biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…
