I trust that the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery @smithsoniannpg will take immediate steps to correct this mistake, lest its many visitors are misled about the 37th President. ⬇️

Cardinal McElroy’s powerful, resonant words at last night’s vigil for peace end with a summons to move from prayer to action, so as not to allow Trump and Netanyahu to resume their immoral, illegal, brutal, life-destroying, destabilising war of choice.

Medicine and public health have added three decades to the human lifespan. Vaccination alone produced 40% of the reduction in child deaths.
And now a disturbed and unqualified man driven by crackpot theories is destroying the foundations of this work, including CDC.

Today I joined hundreds walking to the ICE field office in Detroit, motivated by a truth that flows from the Gospel: Everyone has inherent dignity. We recognize this dignity above all else and seek to bring our nation back to its roots of charity, accompaniment, and welcome.
Without a doubt the most distressing of all the distressing posts I read this AM
Let’s go Tribe!
If you want to talk about quality hires, a gem was William & Mary getting Brian Earl. Tribe are 3-0 in CAA play for the first time since 2019-20. Keller Boothby, who followed Earl from Cornell, had 19 in the 78-65 win over Elon. @WMTribeMBB is deep, experienced and fun to watch!

Catholic Mobilizing Network joins the Holy Father in praying that the sentences of all those on the U.S. death row will be commuted.
Let us #PrayTogether for those on death row in the United States. Let us pray that their sentences may be commuted, changed. Let us think of these brothers and sisters of ours and ask the Lord for the grace to save them from death.

I consider myself to have a sound ability to analyze situations well. But I’ve also always been markedly optimistic, seeing the good in people always- unashamedly to a fault. I don’t think I let myself fully foresee an outcome that so many people could make such a categorically awful decision that would harm so many. I’m truly speechless that this is what this country has chosen, a leader so obviously devoid of any moral compass. God have mercy on us, and the entire world who will face disastrous consequences.

The sin of racism is deeply embedded within the system of capital punishment.
#RichardMoore, who is a Black man, was convicted by an all-white jury. The role of racial bias in his case cannot be ignored.
Merciful God, may our eyes be open to see that this is not just.

What is the best choice for pro-life Catholics on November 5?
Kamala Harris.
Why?
Life might begin at conception, but it doesn't end at birth.

The speech and ideas projected from the Trump/Vance rally at MSG contradicts the idea that all of us are worthy of dignity and respect. I have pointed out the racist sloganeering from that campaign previously. The behavior from the Trump/Vance rally supports a culture of death.

I understand the anger at Jeff Bezos and the Washington Post for its endorsement decision, but cancelling your subscription means less revenue to pay all the Post's reporters. Do what you gotta do but Bezos won't feel it in his pocket while some great journalists might.

The #DeathPenalty is always inadmissible, because it attacks the inviolability and dignity of the person. I appeal for its abolition in all countries of the world. We must not forget that a person can repent and change, even up until the very last moment of their life.
