"What do I owe society?", asked the guy in the green.
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Drudgery is irrelevant to the argument. A programmer's decisions are accountable to objectives independent of the implementation: correctness, performance, maintainability. A painter's decisions are accountable to expressive relationships that develop within the painting itself

at some level you gotta engage with the fact that Americans can read ~90% of major novels for free via their library and don't do it
Everyone blames screens for the decline of reading.
Nobody blames the consolidated corporate publishing industry that made books pricier, more generic, and harder to find. jacobin.com/2026/10/books-pu…

95% of people have to make peace with the fact that most important political activity they will ever do in their life is casting a vote.
Ofc some online libs are pretty tactless as they “attempt” to persuade ppl to act pragmatically within difficult political circumstances etc. But this right here is such an embarrassing inability to actually reckon with said political reality and obviously-true points being made.

Cons pass legislation called shit like “Protect the Family Bill” that says parents can now sue their 35-year-old children if they click the wrong pronoun box on a Google form while leftists make slogans like “Destroy and Kill the Family” for basic trans protections

“The more dysgenic the better,” I said intelligently, with perfect awareness of the bad faith media machine in which my enemy operates and with which it motivates thousands of people against me. If you call me out for this, you are a reactionary fascist
It is absolutely vital for leftists to put in some serious effort to NOT say things a broad audience would find outrageously dumb/mockable. This ‘OPTICS NUKE’ -> ‘rightwinger clips & shares it widely’ -> ‘leftists double down on intentions/context’ cycle is completely untenable!!
McGowan: I’m so tired of it. Honest to God, the only reason we’re talking about Hasan Piker is because he’s on the left. We have had right-wing shock jocks for years. We had freaking Rush Limbaugh ringing a bell every time a gay person died of AIDS. We have Nick Fuentes dining at Mar-a-Lago after he says, “Your women are your body. My choice.” We’ve got these right-wing Christian zealots who said women shouldn’t vote and we’re nothing but vessels. They are all on the right wing, and we’re not asking every single Republican candidate and sitting person if they approve of them, if they should disown them.
Rothman: I’m old enough to remember when every Republican in Congress was asked to respond to things Rush Limbaugh said.
McGowan: He got a Presidential Medal of Freedom from the president we have now, so please stop.
Evergreen, Dems have to answer for every single wacky thing any rando even plausibly left-leaning ever says, while Republicans/Trump himself don’t even have to answer for the actions taken within the office of the President of the United States

I don't think you should be upset that people interpret your words as what they literally mean.
"Group X are Y" implies "All X are Y." That is logically entailed by the meanings of those words, and by how categories work.
If you didn't mean that, you should use different words.
I despise lefties who say stuff like this. “If you get pushed away by annoying people, you were never a great ally in the first place”. Ok? So now what? What’s the implication here?
Politics is a competition of repeatedly winning over fairweather fans. Unless you already have …

…enormous broad support, pushing away significant numbers of wishy-washy political casuals is VERY BAD. This desired army of hyper-loyal, highly principled lefty soldiers who will tolerate infinite pointless annoying behavior IS NOT, and will likely NEVER BE (sufficiently) REAL.
Beyond the disingenuous-ness of the word "smugly" and framing this 6-year-old interview (as he successfully attempted to flip a red state) as a good, up-to-date representation of his current stances, the lefty approach to data/polling here is really bad.
