Bums me out any time Hasan talks to Pod Save America he’s so charitable to them hoping they learn something, while they just say things like “I’m in a coalition against fascism that includes Neera Tanden” (a fascist supremely dedicated to eliminating Hasan from public discourse)
It’s not so much about Zohran not taking part in a protest as much as it’s about his lack of using his platform to bolster the anti-Zionist energy that has carried him to the mayorship. There’s no denying that sadly he has for the most part let his anti-Zionism all but evaporate

It’s valid to critique Zohran on this because you can use his own words. It’s his own bar to clear. It’s what made him so popular and it’s the energy that gave people hope. It’s absolute fair to hold him to his own standard, especially if you support him. It’s your responsibility

No Zionist politician is held to this standard. No Zionist politicians are required to denounce every evil thing said about Muslim or Arab politicians. But when you’re a Muslim or an Arab politician, you’re expected to denounce every insult said about any Zionist politician.
Why does El-Sayed have to denounce everything said about Haley Stevens? Is he responsible for others? She supports genocide, ppl will naturally hate her for that, so he’s gonna have a long list of denouncements if he’s going to be responsible for everything anyone says about her.

Michigan Senate Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed called Saturday, Sept. 19, for an end to the harassment of his former Democratic primary rival, U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens.
His statement followed an episode on Capitol Hill last week where an anti-Israel activist followed the four-term congresswoman to her car, calling her a war criminal and saying, "We will see you at the gallows."

AIPAC-aligned Democrat Henry Beck is hosting a big ticket fundraiser in New York City for Troy Jackson's Senate Campaign this week. Jackson will headline the pro-Israel host's event, according to a copy of an invitation obtained by Drop Site’s @nathantbernad.
The fundraiser host, Beck, a former state treasurer, has been a leading pro-Israel advocate in Maine, having recently moved to NYC to work for an asset management firm. In January 2024, he traveled to Israel to meet with IDF soldiers as part of a 10-person delegation organized by the American Israel Education Foundation, AIPAC’s arm which funds trips to Israel.
While State Treasurer, Beck released a controversial statement from the Treasurer's office on the one-year anniversary of October 7 on the importance of “maintain[ing] our important relationship with the people of Israel,” while declining to mention any of Israel’s war crimes. At the time of Beck's one-year anniversary statement, the United Nations reported that Israeli attacks had killed over 41,600 Palestinians following the October 7 attack. Women and children accounted for at least half of the death toll.
Asked for comment, the Jackson campaign did not directly address what the fundraiser means as it pertains to Jackson’s commitment to confronting Israel’s genocide. Jackson campaign spokesperson Cheyenne Gallivan told Drop Site in a statement: “Troy opposes U.S. taxpayer-funded military aid to Israel, has described Israel’s assault on Gaza as a genocide, and has pledged to reject money from AIPAC.”
Nearly 50 of the people who signed the letter advertised as Jewish Democrats for Mike Rogers also signed a “Jews for Mitt” letter in 2012 because they said Obama was too “anti-Israel” for their consciences.

“I cannot hide how I feel about it anymore. What happened in Israel at Nova music festival on Oct. 7 was horrific and compounded centuries of Jewish pain,” Ed Sheeran said in the opening minutes of his Philadelphia concert Saturday night, nearly three years after October 7, while answering “the question of where I stand in the situation in Israel and Palestine.”
Sheeran described “what is happening in Gaza” as “catastrophic and unjustifiable and disproportionate,” without naming who is responsible. He said his “heart has been broken by the scale of devastation and loss of civilians’ lives, of children’s lives.”
The singer also highlighted the “systemic injustice” unfolding in the West Bank, again without identifying Israel as the occupying power responsible for that illegal and brutal military occupation.
Addressing the removal of Macklemore from his stadium tour and the ensuing backlash, Sheeran said: “I’ve had to take and make difficult decisions, and I am making mistakes, and I’m so sorry. I don’t want to disappoint fans, and I’ve never wanted to be an activist musician, but this put me in the middle of an important and passionate argument about freedom of speech and the most complex political issue on the planet.”

It’s a dangerous mistruth to characterize Kamala Harris as having understood the challenges around Gaza going into 2024. If she told Abdul this in private he can naively choose to believe that, but she’s only shown us she was completely aligned with Biden on the genocide.
