Jasper Tran O'Leary's work on using computational notebooks for CNC milling really helped me expand my thinking around how symbolic representations can "escape" the computer to manifest in fabricated objects. Also a rad use of @observablehq! dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/35445…

Another DIY Stock Part Special! It turns out you can make your own thrust bearings by laser cutting the retainer from Delrin as long as you dont mind installing each BB by hand.

Having too much fun making @Machine_Agency stickers on the silhouette. Orange used to be my least favorite color but I must admit it’s growing on me thanks to @nadyapeek

Everything I know about mechanical engineering has been gleaned from taking things apart, touring factories, scouring the Internet, and perhaps most importantly, advice from friends and mentors. Read some adventures I've had designing Precursor's case at bunniestudios.com/blog/?p=60…

Ok, so I keep hearing " all the open source CAD tools suck " and " I want off this train " for paid CAD tools. And I think to myself: I know how CAD works. What's in a CAD software anyhow? A thread: (1/x)

I see this in so many fabric-adjacent papers (robotics/graphics papers that do involve fabric but don’t involve textiles experts)—usually they’re just, like, reading the first three words on the label at Joann’s. “We measured four fabrics: cotton, denim, knit, and Arctic Fleece.”
So whoever did the experiment originally (tsk tsk it is not cited) didn't label correctly. I'm guessing "cotton" is broadcloth or muslin but who knows what "silk" is in this context. The data suggests it's a light weave like chiffon or charmeuse.
