BBC voxpopping travelling punters about the government's plan to crack down on the scourge of loudspeakers on trains – very welcome news – but is a vox popper more annoying than an out loud iPhunt person? Perhaps the next crackdown will be on vox popping? We can but dream.

Not-so-subtle signalling from the Lib Dem press office ahead of Daisy Cooper’s speech this morning. Gail’s comfortably winning with the feral lobby hacks, though Gregg’s handicapped in the pastry-off by a lack of sausage rolls

Well done premier league. We won the cup we were on the verge of competing. FFP kicks in. We have to sell Anderson and Minteh. Isak goes. Shit season follows. Lose Bruno Gordon & Tonali. Game over. Football is the only business in the world where ambition and success if punished.

city supporters (and, to a lesser extent, the players) are close to facing some of the harshest punishments this sport has ever seen for something none of us had any involvement in doing. if we want to wave inflatable bananas, do some rage bait chants, and self deprecate in response to that, we will. this ISN’T a call for violins or (unwanted) sympathy for city supporters. it also isn’t a plea for you believe the club don’t ‘deserve’ punishment - if rules were broken, rules were broken. i’m also not here to tell you you can’t feel wronged by our board if their actions have wronged your club. not my place or intent to dictate your feelings. what i am pointing out, though, is just because YOU want US to do this performative, depressive, grovelling and begging for forgiveness for something we, as fans or players, had NO involvement in, it doesn’t mean we should. self deprication and resorting to humour and jokes is something city supporters have done for decades. we choose to respond to objectively naff situations (like facing threats of expulsion from the football pyramid) in this way, as is our right. hell, even after winning the treble we still chant about never winning home or away and losing last week as well as today ffs. you don’t have to like it. but if believe we should pack in something that’s become a staple trait of city supporters just because it doesn’t align with your world view or moral compass that you think is gospel, then respectfully you really need to give your head a wobble🍌
Replying to @BBCMOTD
I don’t think the Man City team and fans actually understand the situation they are in. They’re just treating it as a joke.

It’s stuff like this that I mean when I say all this couldn’t have happened to a better fanbase. One’s dressed as a CARTOON ROBBER and one’s in an American prison jumpsuit and people are losing their minds because lads are having a laugh at the football.
Not my picture, but absolutely brilliant! 😂

The mark of a great book, here an effort of 343 pages, is that it starts strong and simply gets better. A Fabulous Debt is must-read for Global Wall Street but far more is a required read for all of younger generations shell shocked from uncountable once-in-lifetime events. Chapter 9 on Keynes, White and their ‘alcohol-fueled fellow financial technocrats’ should be a Level I CFA read. Chapter 18 describes the speed, the velocity of COVID-crisis courage shown by Powell ‘surrounded by his books and guitars’. Wigglesworth destroys our ignorance and revisionist history from Doge Vitale II to Doge Trump. Chapter 20, 21 and on, await. Meanwhile, we are forever certain of our extra-yield ‘patiently, cautiously, trustingly invested in the...to be specific, in the Dawes, Tomes, Mousley, Grubbs Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. amazon.com/dp/0593719182?lv=…

Scousers raising this flag, short memories Try telling that to supporters of Wimbledon, Coventry, Norwich or even Everton who had the best team in Europe in 85. All denied European football. Wimbledon might still be Wimbledon if theyd played in Europe, they were cheated.

Man City haven’t ruined football. Man City haven’t ruined the premier league. Football and the Premier league has been ruined by a handful of teams who have too much say as to how the league is run. It’s been ruined by the Anti Competitive rules that have been put in place

Such naivety here tonight, especially from football journalists, the idea the Premier League can "throw out" a club during the appeal process - just because @ManCity may keep winning - is ridiculous; it would open them up to such legal jeopardy.

Wow! Another not understanding the banana craze. Why does everything have to be about mocking rivals? Here’s the true story: gjfootballarchive.com/2022/0…

Manchester City fans waved inflatable bananas at Anfield as part of a longstanding club tradition from the late 1980s unrelated to Steven Gerrard's slip. manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football… sportingnews.com/in/football/ma…

BTW, we really need to be “impeccable” at Anfield. Like the 50 years of Munich game… Don’t give the media what they’re gagging for. Whatever the provocation, and there will be lots. Fuck em all. #UTFB 🎉

It’s been a long time since I was a regular matchgoer. But my cred speaks for itself, I hope. And I hope everyone — in the ground and in every pub in the land and all the world, — listens to this wisdom. We can be impeccable. Again. Look it up. CTID. Khaldoon forever.

Here I am on Track Radio. Your views on any of the issues discussed would be welcome: *Southampton spying scandal: Punishment too lenient? *Mikel Arteta at Arsenal: Could it become a dynasty? *Chinese No.1 and No.2 in snooker: Is domination inevitable? soundcloud.com/nick_metcalfe…
I’ll bring you audio from my radio appearance later. One thing to emerge from me is, official club Twitter feeds need to up their game. I mentioned Southampton today, but loads are guilty. They shouldn’t be so tribal and fan orientated. They should be circumspect, even austere.

Dear @MansourBinZayed I would be willing to give you a discount if you order 60,000 of these ahead of the next home PL fixture. The cost would normally be £1.38m but I will do them all for £1.35m - and we would still make a £500,000 donation to @MCFCfoodbank too. Win, win I say Your Highness. clubmerchandise.org/mcfc-115…
