Rade Mihaljcic, prominent serbian medieval historian, university professor and academician.
He wrote in school history textbooks what the perpetually lying serbian narrative could not tolerate: that Albanians were indigenous inhabitants of the Balkans, that they preserved their language and customs, and that some of the arriving Slavs assimilated into the Albanian population.
What do you do in fascist serbia when confronted with the truth? Yep, the backlash was so intense that the textbooks eventually had to be rewritten, just to keep the lies alive.

Albanian was the predominant language spoken in Anavyssos and other parts of Attica and the Peloponnese as late as the 1970s.

Breaking News:
DNA testing conducted by Rrenjet.com has reportedly confirmed new results regarding the population of Greece.
According to the reported DNA results, the population of the modern Greek state consists majority of people with Albanian (Arvanite) ancestry, alongside 25% Slavic and around 15% Middle Eastern ancestries. The findings are being cited by some as evidence of a significant Albanian ancestral contribution to the present-day population of Greece.

We know why people like @philosofveritas claim everything is Greek, no matter how illogical. He has to question Shtike and Kenete; how else can he explain to anyone that the mainland Greeks (mostly Arvanites) are assimilated Albanians who intermarried with Armenians, Laz, and Assyrians?
But Pontic Greeks, Anatolian Greeks, and Cappadocians are closer to Armenians, Assyrians, Georgians than to Arvanites or medieval Albanians.
The latest DNA study confirms that a large portion of modern mainland Greek DNA segments share IBD with an individual from Roopkund, who in turn was an Albanian from Greece because he shares large segments with medieval and Modern Albanians.
So now we've mixed an Albanian and an Armenian Assyrian. It's no coincidence that this results in a genetic profile that corresponds exactly to modern Greeks.

Some things will never change; lying actually makes you a bit neo-Greek.
The Hydriots of every rank displayed the peculiar character of the Albanian race.
They were proud, insolent, turbulent, and greedy of gain. The primates ere jealous and exacting, the people rude and violent.
But both possessed some sterling virtues;
and they were distinguished from the Greeks by their love of truth, and by the honesty with which they fulfilled their engagements.

Academic evidence :
Albanians – “Illyrian core” (J2b-L283 + R1b-Z2705 + E-V13):
Lazaridis et al. 2023, “Ancient DNA reveals the origins of the Albanians” (Harvard/Reich Lab):
• E-V13 (27–35%), J2b-L283 (17%), R1b-BY611>Z2705 (~15%)
• 80% paternal ancestry from the pre-migration Balkans
• R1b-Z2705 almost exclusively Albanian; Oldest branches in Albania/Kosovo/Southern Serbia
• Progenitors in BA-IA Çinamak (NE Albania)
🔗 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
J2b-L283 continuity since the Bronze Age:
Lauka, Muhaj & Bojaxhi 2021 – oldest sample Shkrel, 19th century BC; 14–18% Albanian lineages.
Greeks – lower Y resolution:
Lazaridis et al. 2017, Nature – continuity Mycenaeans → modern Greeks, but only one Mycenaean Y haplogroup (J2a1) sequenced. Confirms lower subclade resolution vs. Albanians.

1/ The 2017 Lazaridis et al. Nature paper on Minoans & Mycenaeans is STILL being misused to claim
“Greeks have almost continuity with Bronze Age Aegean populations.”
That paper NEVER provided qpAdm models for modern Greeks. It only showed qualitative PCA + f4-stats on ~30 modern samples.
No IBD. No Y-subclade TMRCA. No temporal bridge.
2/ Fast forward to 2026: Davranoglou, Lauka et al. (Nature Human Behaviour) just dropped a state-of-the-art study on Albanians using EXACTLY the methods that were missing for Greeks in 2017.
What they did (and Lazaridis/Olalde did NOT do for Greeks at this resolution):
• 74 new whole-genome sequenced modern ethnic Albanians
• >6,000 ancient West Eurasian genomes (AADR)
• qpAdm on modern Albanians → 80–90 % West Balkan LBA/IA paleo-Balkan + only 10–20 % Medieval East European (geographically structured)
• ancIBD (Ringbauer 2024) between Bronze/Iron Age and modern Albanians → direct genealogical continuity
• Y-chromosome subclade analysis + YFull TMRCA (Fig. 8) tracking paleo-Balkan haplogroups straight into modern carriers
• Early Medieval (800–900 CE) Albanian samples already match the modern profile → clear temporal bridge
• Geg/Tosk dialect structure via IBD-sharing
3/ Result:
Albanians now have the strongest direct evidence of paleo-Balkan continuity in the entire Balkans.
Meanwhile, for modern Greeks we still rely on:
• Lazaridis 2017: qualitative PCA only
• Olalde 2023: qpAdm yes,but no IBD ancient→modern Greek, no Y-TMRCA for Mycenaean lines, no 74 new WGS Greeks, no dedicated Greek Early Medieval bridge
4/ Lazaridis (heavily cited in the new Albanian paper) co-led the Southern Arc work and helped generate the ancient DNA revolution.
So the question is simple:
You just published the gold-standard study for Albanians with IBD, Y-TMRCA and 6,000+ ancient comparators.
Why not do the exact same thing for modern Greeks?
The 2017 PCA-based narrative has been circulating for 8+ years. Time to replace it with the same rigorous methods you just used for your own study.

“Genetic origins of the Minoans and Mycenaeans” (Lazaridis et al. 2017, Nature) contains NO qpAdm model for modern Greeks
@iosif_lazaridis With all due respect for your work, but this is exactly the problem:
Your 2017 Nature study NEVER quantitatively modeled modern Greeks. No qpAdm with Modern_Greek as target.
Table 1 contains only ancient targets. For modern Greeks there is only PCA, FST, and f4 symmetry tests – all qualitative.
The popular “70–86% Mycenaean” claim is a misinterpretation of the Anatolia_N column (Column C, Table 1), which gives the Anatolian Neolithic proportion WITHIN the Bronze Age populations themselves – not in modern Greeks.
Ingo Olalde et al. 2023 (Cell, “A genetic history of the Balkans”) then actually performed the qpAdm modeling. The real numbers for modern Greeks:
Concretely:
Mainland Greeks (Peloponnese):
~25% Bronze Age Aegean + ~39% Roman-Anatolian + ~30% Slavic + ~6% Ottoman
Island Greeks (Dodecanese): ~85% Roman-Anatolian continuity + ~3.5% Slavic + ~12% Ottoman
A public clarification from you would do more than any single reply to Grok. What does your 2017 study actually say about modern Greeks? What does it not say? And what do the actual qpAdm numbers from Olalde 2023 tell us? That would be a service to scientific accuracy – and against the instrumentalization of both your works.

Did you know? In 1887, in Korçë, the very first Albanian-language school in the Ottoman Empire was allowed to open. At the time, there were already four Greek elementary schools and one greek gymnasium operating in the same area.
To get permission for just this one school, albanians had to leverage the influence of prominent figures like Sami Frashëri and Naim Frashëri. Ultimately, the Sultan decreed that only ONE albanian-language school would be permitted for the 2.4 million people living across the four Albanian vilayets.
By 1902, this school faced severe suppression. The push to close it was driven by Ottoman fears of rising Albanian nationalism, in coordination with the Greek Orthodox Church, which opposed the spread of the albanian language.
Meanwhile, across the sea, the arbëreshë in Italy had a wealth of albanian institutions supported by Italian authorities. There was even an albanian language chair at the Vatican that opened in the 17th century! This early academic focus actually established albanian grammatical studies as the first among the Balkan peoples in 1716 — ahead of serbian, greek, or bulgarian grammars.

Why was the Battle of Euia between Olympia and Adea fought in today Albania? Or to put it differently, why an Epirot queen chose to battle a Macedonian counterpart in south east Albania? Euia was in Desareti just where Via Egnatia turns west along the Genusus River in central Albania. Why are Macedonians and Epirots fighting on Albanian soil? The answer is obvious: Macedonia and Epirus made up ancient Albania and the war between the two famous queens was internal civil struggle for supreme power in Albania. Euia was the natural battle site because Desareti was the dividing border between Macedonia and Epirus since according to Hecataeus, Desari was an Epirot tribe, and Macedonia was above Desareti in central and northern Albania. Thus for Olympia to dethrone her rival Adea her Epirot army had to march north from Vjosa valley to Korca basin and then Desareti on the shores of Lake Ohrid.
Adea in turn marched south at the head of her Macedonian troops dressed in army uniform.
To Greek and Roman historians political wars between women were unthinkable, but in Macedonia and Epirus it was the norm. In any case, Macedonian troops defected to Olympia out of honour and high regard for the wife of Philip and mother of Alexander the Great, and the battle ended without a blow.

Today I call on the Prime Minister, the President, and the Parliament of Albania and all politicians to take a historic step and officially recognise the ancient roots of the Albanian people.
For centuries historians, linguists, and archaeologists have linked Albanians to the ancient peoples of the Balkans, especially the Pelasgians and the Illyrians. Today, modern DNA studies are increasingly showing strong continuity between the people who have lived in these lands for thousands of years and the Albanian people of today 80-90% of our people have these DNA. The larges percentage in whole Europe.
Because of this, it is time for Albania’s institutions to formally recognise this heritage.
I call on the Government of Albania, the President, and the Parliament to:
• Officially recognise Albanians as descendants of the ancient Pelasgian and Illyrian peoples.
• Protect and promote this heritage in education, research, and international representation.
• Strengthen scientific research into the deep historical roots of the Albanian people.
The Albanian nation is one of the oldest continuous peoples in Europe. Our language, culture, and traditions have survived thousands of years of history.
Recognising and studying this heritage is not about politics , it is about understanding and preserving the history of our people.
The time has come for Albania to invest more in scientific research, archaeology, and historical studies so the world can better understand the ancient roots of our nation.
