Ukraine war: Without local media, no one would have heard the cries for help

This is such important work from @angelanfu, breaking down legislation meant to help local news, who supports it and how likely it is to pass: poynter.org/business-work/20…

The pandemic devastated newsrooms. Now they’re seeking help from Congress. - Poynter

Journalism advocates say they are optimistic that Congress will finally step in this session to support the struggling industry

Different context but similar issues, raising questions over how #localjournalism #communitymedia #communityradionews can be rendered sustainable. As per our @RadioStudies @LoCoMeNetwork panel yesterday.

I have a new piece out today in @TheHill arguing that local journalism is essential infrastructure and we should fund it accordingly. thehill.com/opinion/finance/…

Why local journalism must be considered infrastructure

Local news serves our critical information needs and we often take such democratic infrastructure for granted.
