PAPRIUM POCKET 0.3.0 + LITTLE-MAN 1.0.
Finally! After years of hard work. 100% Cart Accurate music!
Music the way the cart does it. YM2612 & Datenmeister modes. Sax Man Returns!
No soundtrack hacks, half done command tables, blob or cdda needed!
We finally fully reversed engineered the STM32F4 with all notes and commands. Accuracy verified against several hardware revisions of Mega Drive and Genesis.
Available for Pocket NOW & MiSTer Port soon!
github.com/thekoalakoa/papri…
(Firmware available as GPLv3 but We will issue takedowns for stealing code.)
HUGE thanks to Freya, Isa, @d0tslash @LittleManDumps @The_Hpman @neonarcadegrant @Pezz82Mister and others for the work, support and feedback.

Moving this month and a big part of that includes a dedicated FI setup and we'll be able to really start cranking on this!

Apparently RDP2 has been successfully attacked on STM32 parts but not sure about the STM32F446 specifically. sec-consult.com/blog/detail/…

So if my theorem is correct, and Quake gutted id Software, was it worth it? Well I'd say yes absolutely. Games are more important than game companies, and Quake is an iconic titan of the gaming world.
Plus it's not like the people who left vanished off the face of the Earth. John Romero's still making games. I'm still making games, Mike Abrash as well, and so forth. We're all contributing to the hobby. Heck, I'm GLAD I was gone, because I got to work on the Age of Empire series which was amazeballs.
But man alive it seems like the company could have had its act together better and kept that dream team.

The rare elusive legendary @thewatagames graded @watermelongames #Paprium rare hotness. May be the only two in existence. Technically both “errors”. They should have never been graded. 😅

4+ year old shitpost in making. This is the first @watermelongames #Paprium @thewatagames (now @PSAvideogames) graded copy in the world. I was trolling hard. It is amazing that they graded it, it literally had to be approved, and should have been denied. Cc @BillytimeG @St1ka

I've been doing normal voltage glitching so far, but that has a chance to soft brick the F4 - so I'm going to take a stab with the same EMFI parameters I used beforehand. I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole enabling ETM tracing. Turns out, you can configure the ETM macrocell, hit a soft reboot, and it will be enabled IN THE BOOTROM. This ends up giving you a (rough) instruction trace on the SWO line, which is insanely helpful for profiling.
RDP1->RDP0: Good to go
RDP2->RDP1 (reliably): In progress!
Yooo @wrongbaud folks bugging the shit outta me jonesing to know if ya made any headway on the stm32 glitching?

I made it possible to write #golang code for the Sega #dreamcast. Yes, the 1999 console. Yes, real Go with goroutines and channels. Here's intro of #diablo running on actual hardware

I didn't write that :-) But it was written in the office next to me by @lertulo, who was an intern on MS-DOS with me in 1993. And you'd miss scandisk more if you had to settle for chkdsk!
As I recall, it was 100% x86 assembly, and he did his own screen graphics and UI rather than using a lib. I learned a lot from watching him and asking question.
He also used vi, and was like a wizard with it...

Headed to the @UPS store… @wrongbaud is on deck next for @LittleManDumps & all the hoodrat stuff regarding @watermelongames #Paprium stm32 RDP2 protection.

Came accros this conversation with @BillytimeG about @LittleManDumps and @The_Hpman work on MAME for the 2021 perfectly working dump of Paprium (minus sound). 3.5 years on, here we are. I don't know who decided to adapt the emulation to libreto, but it was harder and deliberate.
Replying to @BillytimeG
I seem to remember someone making a custom MAME version of the Genesis emulation to load an incomplete dumped ROM, I don't know if it could play the entire game but it was playable, only catch was there was no audio resources.

I bought this 4 years ago trying to debug the @watermelongames Paprium Megawire with @The_Hpman. Now that I have a real megawire in hand, it’s nice to see I nailed the connector perfectly :) time to see if I can make a bootleg megawire now.
And it’s dumped… one more @watermelongames #Paprium item knocked out. Thanks to the hardware donor! You are a gentleman & a scholar! Now on @internetarchive archive.org/download/not_pap…

Really hoping @wrongbaud will have some time soon, and I can sed him the original chip excavation for him to try to dump. If not I'll collect the $9500 required, and send it off to China. ANY of you can send a chip to BreakIC btw. It doesn't have to be ME that does this.
