I joined Twitter more than 10 years ago, when I started my lab in Munich. I really enjoyed the scientific content and discussions on the platform, but I feel that it has become politicised and degraded in unhelpful ways, so I will not actively post here for the time being.

Very excited about the Nobel for protein design for David Baker (who I was fortunate to collaborate with in the past) and Hassabis & Jumper for protein structure prediction (of which I am an amazed user...)!
BREAKING NEWS The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2024 #NobelPrize in Chemistry with one half to David Baker “for computational protein design” and the other half jointly to Demis Hassabis and John M. Jumper “for protein structure prediction.”

We apply the approach to both experimental data and to simulated data with a broad range of different types of noises and drifts over a broad range if signal-to-noise.

Our new approach uses the Hadamard variance (HV), a three-point difference, and is similar to using power spectra (PSD) or Allan variance (AV). All three approaches improve performance around the Nyquist limit, but the HV method handles drift much better.

We anticipate that our approach is broadly applicable to a range of different DNA-protein interactions. (n/n)
