The White Sox are going to dodge a bullet this week on Chicago sports radio after what the Bears attempted to do today, even though the White Sox deserve all the heat and criticism. The mask is off the Bears. A below average defense who can take the ball away occasionally

best FA signing in Hawks history
As is a tradition unlike any other, the crying Irish lose a game and the fans of ND begin blaming the refs for a missed PI call or 1 second on the clock. But they will ignore in the first half they got outplayed. Take your L and move on, your CFP hopes are still alive plenty
Auburn beats Georgia, Tennessee beats Alabama and Indiana Ohio State play a classic, and yet stooges who run ESPN want a 24 team playoff, which will see the end of wild days like today
The last year Michigan State has been relevant in college football. 2021 they were a bunch of frauds
NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB are all much better run than college football has been thru the decades by the NCAA and all have very large playoff pools (that have expanded over the years). Not surprisingly, they’re all doing just fine. Too many people treat college football like it’s holy and sacred ground. September is a mess (worse now w NIL) where AP top 25 teams destroy outmanned opponents. Conference Championship games (outside of the SEC) were mostly forgettable. Ten teams backed out of bowl games last season and it was only getting worse. “Nobody asked for this” is a reasonable take but nobody asked for an IPhone either or the countless entrepreneurial products that enrich our lives or at minimum make life more efficient. College football in the 90s had multiple split national champs, so it’s always struggled w how to end the season. So finally it will end like our better run pro leagues do — with a large playoff. A general rule that holds true, is that if the quality of something is strong, it will thrive regardless of change. The NIL has made the college rosters older and therefore more experienced and the game has benefitted. Onward.

"There's not 24 teams in the country that deserve to be in the playoffs ... I don't think there's 24 teams in the country that can win the championship."
Nick Saban reiterated his concerns about a potential expansion to a 24-team College Football Playoff in 2027.
I can’t even get mad at Notre Dame anymore for being whimps and not joining a conference. Conferences are done for after this year. ND can remain independent, still play the Coast Guard and Marine Academy every week and keep the $. Of course they look smart now, out of all teams

AJ Pierzynski reaches base on a controversial dropped third strike call. Pablo Ozuna pinch runs for him and scores the game winning run, tying the ALCS at one game a piece.
2005 World Series team
2006 90-72 and missed the playoffs in a loaded AL Central
2026 would be higher with one more series win
2008 with Ken Griffey Jr
2003 even though they collapsed in September
2010 was a weird, but fun season
2012 was the last run 12 and 14
Most fun White Sox teams of my lifetime:
1 - 2005 Champions
2 - 1990 Doing the Little Things
3 - 1983 Winning Ugly
4 - 2026 Strokin 100!
5 - 77 Hitmen (I was 3 so if I was older this may be higher)
6 - 93 Good Guys Wear Black
7 - 2000 Herbert Perry’s Milk Men
8 - 1994 Punch in the Face
9 - 2021 Coulda Been Contenders
The ghost of Kenny Williams past is creeping back into White Sox thinking. Let’s bring in big names who are no longer elite, and say we are going all in. You wanna trade Colson, that’s fine. But for an overpriced veteran? I’ve seen that story before and know the ending. I’m good
The #WhiteSox should use Colson to trade for consistent veterans. Bryce Harper and Jesus Luzardo’s contracts end in 2031, coinciding with most of their current player’s control term. They could package Montgomery with youth and make a push for both.
Also would be intrigued by the Mariners cache of pitchers. Colson could easily fetch someone like Brian Woo (who would be much better and more affordable than Luzardo), though you’d likely have to pair him with a solid but less impact veteran bat like Brendan Donovan.
Then Re-Sign Grichuk, Fedde, and Newcomb, sign Robbie Ray in FA, shift Kay and Fedde to the bullpen, and DFA Benintendi. Eat some salary and pick up some money to be legit.
