À Washington, la fille de Victoire Ingabire dénonce un procès inéquitable au #Rwanda
La fille de l'opposante rwandaise Victoire Ingabire a pris la parole ce vendredi 30 octobre à Washington, lors de l'événement « Roll Call for Freedom » consacré aux prisonniers politiques. Elle a rappelé que sa mère a déjà passé « huit ans de prison, dont cinq ans en isolement », manquant des moments importants de la vie de son mari, de ses trois enfants et de ses cinq petits-enfants.
Depuis sa nouvelle arrestation en juin 2025, l'opposante serait privée même des services religieux. Elle « risque maintenant la prison à vie », a ajouté sa fille, estimant qu'« un procès équitable n'est pas possible au Rwanda ». « Ma mère a tout donné pour un avenir meilleur pour le Rwanda », a-t-elle conclu, assurant que celle-ci n'abandonnera « jamais cette cause ».

Rencontré jeudi 29 octobre 2026 à Washington, Paul Rusesabagina, ancien directeur de l'Hôtel des Mille Collines dont l'histoire a inspiré le film Hotel Rwanda, a livré un témoignage accablant sur sa détention et sur le régime de Paul Kagame.
Enlevé en 2020, condamné à 25 ans de prison pour terrorisme puis libéré en mars 2023 après une commutation de peine, il décrit une cellule sans fenêtre où ses geôliers contrôlaient la lumière, l'éteignant parfois à midi pour la rallumer à minuit, afin de le faire « souffrir psychologiquement ».
Selon lui, la prison où il était détenu est passée de 10 000 à 18 000 détenus durant ses deux ans et sept mois d'incarcération. « Les droits de l'homme, c'est un principe qui n'existe pas au Rwanda », affirme-t-il, évoquant le sort d'opposants comme Victoire Ingabire, de nouveau incarcérée.

📢URGENT: An open letter to @refugees and USA demanding immediate protection for Rwandan refugees, independent investigation into the beheading of sgt. Maj. Robert Kabera, and sanctions on Rwanda for its pattern of transnational repression and impunity.
Kabera had been previously attacked in Kampala by three men who told him, “Even if you run to America, we will find you and kill you.” One week before his death, a public figure affiliated with Rwanda’s ruling party appealed to Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces requesting him to silence critics of President Kagame and to prevent them from criticizing him from Uganda; Kabera was on the list among those named.
