An absolute spectacle from space.

Thank you, @FHPTampa.
It is cruel for anyone to leave a dog tied to a post in the middle of an oncoming storm. FL will hold anyone who mistreats pets accountable.

WATCH: Hurricane Milton may cause 15-foot storm surges in Tampa, Sarasota, and Cape Coral.
This is what a 15-foot surge looked like in Fort Myers Beach during Hurricane Ian two years ago

This tornado just touched down in Clewiston which is about 60 miles to the northeast of us.

We have accelerated the rollout of Starlink direct to cell phone connectivity for areas affected by the hurricanes.
This is being provided free of charge by SpaceX and TMobile to help those in need.
In addition to the thousands (>10k) of Starlink kits we are delivering in response to Hurricane Helene, the @Starlink team and @TMobile activated our Direct to Cell satellites to provide emergency alerts for all phones and carriers of those in affected areas.
The @FCC has also rapidly approved emergency special temporary authority for coverage in Florida ahead of Hurricane Milton.
We have now enabled basic texting (SMS) for those on T-Mobile phones in hurricane affected areas. Text messages have already been sent and received. You can text loved ones, text 911 and continue to receive emergency alerts.
If a phone connects to a Starlink satellite, it will have 1 to 2 bars of signal and show "T-Mobile SpaceX" in the network name. Users may have to manually retry text messages if they don't go through at first, as this is being delivered on a best-effort basis. The service works best outdoors, and occasionally works indoors near a window.

Update:Current satellite imaging and models show Hurricane #Milton will hit south of Tampa as a category 4 hurricane with 15 foot storm surge in some areas.
It looks like Tampa will get a ton of rain, but the hurricane force winds will impact Cape Coral .

Note the wind turbine areas … what’s good for wind energy generation (wind > 25 mph) not so much for controlling grass/brush fires. Wind is typically strong along those ridges and hilly gaps south of Tracy. Significant progress has been made on the #CorralFire ahead of today’s PM/evening wind and more wind in Monday #CAwx 6/2/2024
#CorralFire [update] near Lawrence Livermore National Labratory Site 300 SW of Tracy (San Joaquin County) now 14000 acres & 30% contained. Firefighters have made good progress constructing & improving control lines.
