Mt. Lemmon, Arizona near Tucson received significant rain over the last 24 hours. Streams that normally trickle quietly through the forest are now roaring downhill and reminding us just how powerful a mountain storm can be.

Early look at the weekend trend (upper 80s) for the 1:25pm start for @49ers vs Broncos … might want to have these set aside on standby.
9/27/2026: After a mostly mild weekend it’s looking like an extended run of Summer-like temperatures will be on the way this week.

Sunday marks the six-year anniversary from when the Glass Fire started in 2020. This fire ended up burning 67,484 acres across Napa and Sonoma counties, destroying 1,520 structures. It ranks today as the 12th-most destructive wildfire in California history in terms of structures lost. This photo was taken on the night the Glass Fire broke out, captured just after 7 p.m. facing hillside flames above a vineyard off of Crystal Springs Road in Napa County. Six years later, the reminder remains the same - wildfire can happen quickly, and being prepared before it starts can make all the difference. The Big Island of Hawaii certainly dodged a close call with Hurricane Nolo. While the prolonged easterly fetch did lead to heavy rain on the eastern side of the island, a farther north storm would've led to far more significant impacts from a near-stationary hurricane.
There still remain only a small minority of models showing Nolo making a dangerously close approach to the Big Island. The rest of the guidance - including Google's new WNV3 model - keep Nolo far south enough for no direct impact from its inner core.

9/26/2026: the mornings are certainly feeling more like Fall and we’ll see a fairly cloudy and mild wrap up to the weekend. Temps get back to Summer-mode midweek with dry breezes along the hills.

What a flight into high-end Category 5 Hurricane #Polo. We got a ton of strong wind observations, and it was awesome to see @NHC_Pacific be able to use them to accurately assess the storm's intensity. Especially impressive was one of our S0 drones which measured winds about 500m above the surface of over 200 knots! We got a ton of ocean probes out too. This will be a very valuable dataset.

On the eve of his 18th season, Curry commits on a new extension honoring his desire to finish his NBA career with the Warriors. He also took $20 million less than his maximum salary, per @BobbyMarks42, accepting a deal that now gives the Warriors significant cap space next summer. Golden State presented Curry with a slew of options -- max deals, discounted salaries for team-building upside, or waiting into the season or next offseason. But both sides land on a critical extension to bring clarity on the season and lock in Curry for year 19 and potentially 20.
BREAKING: Golden State’s Stephen Curry has agreed on a two-year, $116 million contract extension with the franchise, with a player option in 2028-29, sources tell ESPN.

Nature’s calling… but Nolo’s louder. 🌧️ Park and trails are CLOSED, and shelter‑in‑place is in effect. Once it’s safe for staff to get out and assess trail and road conditions, we’ll share updates. Stay safe, stay cozy, and we’ll see you back on the trails once the skies calm down and the park is safe!
