Another epic Data Table Dinner hosted by @omnigres 🙌 — thank you @yrashk for bringing everyone together.
The highlight for me was an amazing conversation with Greg Kemnitz & Curt Kolovson, core contributors to the original Postgres project with Michael Stonebraker. From early kernel code to the first vacuum process & even Postgres “time travel” — conversations that bridge the origins of Postgres with the future of databases.
Shoutout to friends from @postgres, @supabase, @CouchDB, @couchbase, @hydradatabase, @ApacheCalcite, @SingleStoreDB, @vitessio, @DgraphLabs, @DBOS_Inc, @awscloud Aurora, and @LaunchQL 🚀

Honored that our founder had a seat at the table with the brilliant minds shaping the future of databases.
Huge thanks to @omnigres for hosting a powerful evening alongside leaders from @postgres, @supabase, @CouchDB, @couchbase, @hydradatabase, @ApacheCalcite, @SingleStoreDB, @vitessio, @DgraphLabs, @DBOS_Inc, @awscloud Aurora, and @LaunchQL 🚀
Last night was a blast – a fantastic group of database engineers and researchers got together to talk shop and have fun! Over three hours of flowing simultaneous conversations – it was really hard to wrap it up.
The idea was simple – swap a Michelin-star private room dinner for something real, down-to-earth, and inherently engaging. No better place than a Thai Mookata grill – the only one in the Bay Area.
Dan Lynch @danlynch, Lev Kokotov @levpgdog, Joseph Sciarrino @JoeSciarrino, Qian Li, Peter Kraft @petereliaskraft, Sugu Sougoumarane @ssougou, Damien Katz @damienkatz, Jordan I., Alex Miller @AlexMillerDB, Curt Kolovson, Manish Rai Jain @manishrjain, Julian Hyde @julianhyde – thank you for making this dinner what it was.
It was both humbling and energizing to organize this gathering and have @Omnigres support it.

I just open sourced a new tool that I built during the pandemic — a pure #plpgsql AST toolkit and deparser for #PostgreSQL, which can be used to create ASTs and deparse them back into strings in native #Postgres github.com/pyramation/postgr…

Replying to @danlynch @rikarends
What would Isaac Newton do? Linus Torvalds? These guys didn't need massive funding and teams. Some folks and small teams have enough genius that their ability to create new paradigms and platforms is far beyond what money-seeking ventures can accomplish
