Vendoring Postgres code directly into PgDog today to make us pass Pg regression tests. GUC, cursors, and runtime extensions... No wonder PG is the most popular DB right now: it's an entire operating system for your data.

Smooth! Good APIs, like good docs, make a product.
We just dropped key_field from our CREATE INDEX syntax. Before: CREATE INDEX ON items USING paradedb (id, title, description) WITH (key_field='id'); After: CREATE INDEX ON items USING paradedb (title, description); It's small, but also one less thing to think about when adding search to Postgres.

PgDog just hit 3,000,000 downloads! It took us a year to get to the first million, 3 months to the 2nd, and only 1 month to the 3rd. Is this our first inflection point? One thing for sure, you'll never see a PgDog billboard on the freeway. Just engineers, heads down, building sharded Postgres.

Two weeks to beat PlanetScale? This team is on fire. This is what happens when you spend your time on the product instead of bus ads.

Two weeks ago, @PlanetScale launched TIN. They benchmarked it against us, and it was very fast. So we spent those two weeks making ParadeDB faster without their tradeoffs. Today, we are faster than TIN. paradedb.com/blog/opening-a-…

Our most important tools are open source. Postgres, Linux, Firefox, and git, all the programming languages we use, just to name a few. There is no reason why sharded Postgres shouldn't be as well. pgdog.dev/blog/why-open-sour…
