The Terraform Labs bankruptcy and liquidation process, filed under Chapter 11 in January 2024, remains ongoing as of August 19, 2025. The company's wind-down was approved in September 2024 following a $4.47 billion settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). A Wind Down Trust was established to manage asset liquidation and creditor distributions.
Plan Confirmation and Effective Date: The liquidation plan was confirmed in September 2024, with an effective date around early 2025 (inferred from subsequent deadlines).
Claims Bar Date:
Creditors had until May 16, 2025, to file Crypto Loss Claims. This deadline has passed, and late claims are barred unless court relief is granted.
Distributions:
Initial determinations on claims were expected within 90 days of the bar date (around mid-August 2025). Pro rata distributions to eligible creditors are anticipated to begin in August 2025, with total payouts estimated based on remaining assets (primarily cryptocurrencies and tokens).
Asset Actions: As part of the wind-down, Terraform Labs burned over 249 billion LUNC tokens in recent weeks, signaling final steps in divesting holdings.
Completion Projection:
The liquidation plan requires the dissolution of Terraform Labs entities no later than December 31, 2025, unless extended by court order. No extension has been reported, and recent court dockets (e.g., filings as late as August 12, 2025) indicate the case is still active. Full completion occurs when all assets are liquidated, claims resolved, and distributions made, which aligns with this deadline based on available information.

$LUNC and $USTC burns have been increasing on the Terra Classic chain in recent days. Activity has increased as the processes related to Do Kwon near completion.
Total $LUNC burns have exceeded 416 billion. The amount of $LUNC burned in the last five days has exceeded 1 billion. All of these burns were fueled by the "burn tax."
The Terra Classic chain generates value. It uses 80% of its generated value for burns, reducing the supply burden on the chain.
10% of the generated value goes to the community pool and 10% to the staking pool.
The Terra Classic community's top priority is to reduce the supply of LUNC and USTC. Data and actions support this...
